AbbVie is looking for a Scientist, Chemistry with strong synthetic skills. This individual will work under the mentorship of a supervisor to discover, develop and execute routes to compounds that treat a variety of diseases. The candidate will be a member of an integrated Process Research & Development project team, consisting of chemists (synthetic, structural, analytical) and engineers, with the goal of identifying and developing novel and practical routes to newly discovered therapeutic targets. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic and productive, with excellent communication skills and strong functional expertise in synthetic organic chemistry, compound synthesis, and characterization.

Qualifications

Qualifications:
  • B.S. in chemistry with 0-3 years of laboratory experience is required.
  • Broad range of functional expertise in modern synthetic organic chemistry, compound purification and spectral analysis/interpretation.
  • Ability to search the chemical literature to find viable solutions to synthetic problems.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience doing synthetic method development, new reaction discovery, study of reaction mechanisms or total synthesis
  • Record of scientific accomplishment with author credit in peer-reviewed publications
  • Ability to independently lead his/her own chemistry research and effectively function in a goal-oriented team environment.
