We are seeking a Research Associate to assist in developing GMP-compliant, manufacturing-scale, cell-culture processes for the production of therapeutic neuronal cell types. Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and execute small-scale process development experiments and develop viable cGMP manufacturing processes for cell culture and cryopreservation processes.
- Contribute towards the development, optimization and scale-up of primary human interneuron production and characterization.
- Technology transfer activities between development and manufacturing sites.
- Writing standard operating procedures.
- Assist with maintaining laboratories (equipment maintenance, calibration, cleaning and related documentation).
- Present data at departmental meetings.
- Must possess the ability to work independently or as a team.
- Maintain notebooks and electronic files associated with each experiment and contributes to the preparation of final experimental reports.
- Manage product and material inventories as needed throughout studies.
- Some travel to CMO sites may be required.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in bioengineering, chemical engineering, biology, biochemistry or other life sciences discipline.
- Experience in aseptic handling of cell culture with preference for stem cell culture maintenance and differentiation.
- Availability to work a limited number of hours on occasional weekends.
- Excellent writing, verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Able to take initiative to improve work processes, develop innovative scientific methodologies and approaches to enhance process productivity.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in bioengineering, chemical engineering, biology, biochemistry or other life sciences discipline.
- 2-5 years of industrial research or process development experience.
- Experience with culture of pluripotent stem cells.
- Experience scaling up mammalian cell culture processes in biologics or cell therapy setting.
- Hands on experience with bioreactor setup, operation, inline process monitoring, troubleshooting.
- Working knowledge of molecular and cellular biology techniques such as PCR, immunocytochemistry.
- Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices and current Good Manufacturing Practices is a plus.
