Amgen is seeking a Sr. Associate/ Associate Scientist responsible for all aspects of production cell line development in support of advancing the Amgen pipeline as part of the pre-pivotal drug substance process development organization. The qualified candidate will perform mammalian cell culture processes including transfection, selection, subcloning, passaging, screening, banking, and characterization. In addition, the candidate will perform molecular biology and genetic characterization processes including Sanger sequencing, NGS library prep and sequencing, PCR, northern and southern blots.

Responsibilities may also include:
  • Analyze and interpret data, maintain laboratory notebooks, and generate written reports
  • Generate meaningful data towards authoring of regulatory submissions, publications, and patent applications
  • Communicate project updates, work on technical problems, participate and present scientific data in meetings
  • Evaluate and develop innovative technologies to improve expression, accelerate timelines, and improve efficiency.
  • Work closely in a team environment, collaborating with various colleagues in process development, discovery, and collaborate with regulatory and quality authorities to author global regulatory filings.

Basic Qualifications

Master's degree

OR

Bachelor's degree & 2 years of scientific experience

Preferred qualifications:
  • MS or BS with 2 years of industry experience
  • previous industrial hands on experience in Cell Culture with a focus on mammalian cell recombinant protein production
  • Experience and strong understanding of molecular biology, bioprocess development and protein engineering
  • Experience with automation and in particular for use in high throughput cell culture.
  • Proficiency using software including Office, collaboration, Statistical and data visualization.
  • Excellence in communication - both verbal and written. Proficiency delivering presentations to a variety of audiences
  • Advanced scientific/technical reading/writing skills, sophisticated scientific analysis skills, ability to collaborate and work in team environment.
  • Good interpersonal skills and a proactive leadership mentality
  • Ability to work independently and as a team, self-motivation, resourcefulness, and a positive demeanor.
