Position Summary:

Cygnal Therapeutics is seeking a highly motivated and innovative research associate/ senior research associate to join its team of experienced drug hunters to invent, identify and develop large biologic molecules for therapeutic intervention. The successful candidate will play an integral role in a cross-functional team that collaboratively develops therapeutic monoclonal antibodies and recombinant proteins. The successful candidate will play an integral role in developing and evaluating therapeutic biologics.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Protein production in mammalian systems, expression optimization and biochemical analysis
  • Purification of recombinant proteins using standard methods and equipment
  • Preliminary characterization of proteins using CE-SDS, HPLC, endotoxin assays
  • Maintenance of lab equipment and detailed inventory of team's lab supplies
  • Troubleshooting and optimization of experimental procedures to provide timely and reliable support
  • Documentation of all methods and results in detail in electronic laboratory notebook

Minimum Qualifications:
  • BS/MS in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or similar field with at least 2 years of relevant experience in industrial laboratory setting
  • Strong skill set and hands-on experience in protein production in mammalian systems using transient transfection methods and stable cell lines; experience with stable cell-line development is desired
  • Familiarity with HPLC and skilled in protein purification by various chromatography procedures (affinity, size exclusion, ion exchange) and systems (AKTA, Agilent)
  • Familiarity with CE-SDS and endotoxin assays
  • Ability to successfully work in a fast-paced multidisciplinary environment and meet deadlines
  • Good interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
  • Familiarity with antibody structure and function is highly desired
  • Familiarity with molecular biology and plasmid prep is highly desired
  • Familiarity with BLI or SPR for kinetic measurements is desired

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in high throughput protein production, purification and biochemical characterization
  • Experience in characterization of protein-ligand binding interaction and kinetics
  • Experience with biophysical characterization (DLS, MALS, DSC, DSF)
  • Demonstrated contributions to therapeutic monoclonal antibody development as part of cross functional team
  • Excellent scientific track record of high impact, peer-reviewed publications and patents
