Position Description

The Associate Director, Consumer Eye Care is responsible for helping to develop the strategy and tactical plan for Allergan's fast-growing U.S. Consumer Eye Care business. The Consumer Eye Care business currently includes the leading REFRESH® Artificial Tears brand and will expand in 2022 with the Rx to OTC switch of LASTACAFT®. This role's key responsibilities are to help develop and execute, strategic marketing plans that contribute strong growth to the business and drive category leadership. This person will focus on driving the consumer marketing initiatives. These initiatives include digital, print, eCommerce and CRM programs. The Associate Director will also assist with the commercialization and launch of several OTC pipeline products. While collaborating closely with internal stakeholders, field sales and trade customers, this person works closely with the Executive Director to set the strategy for new products, portfolio positioning and the tactical execution to drive overall growth.

A reas of Responsibilities
    • Helps develop and execute the DTC and digital consumer strategies to drive product sales.
    • Develops unique communications, positioning and pricing plans for the REFRESH line as well as new product launches
    • Works closely with the Market Access Trade team to develop marketing programs with retailers to maximize distribution and sales
    • Develops and enhances online distribution programs for Refresh to maximize sales (e.g. Amazon,, etc).
    • Develops and maintains a customer focus that includes effective working relationships with KOL customers in OPT and OPH to ensure effective eyecare portfolio strategies.
    • Works with Supply Chain partners on forecasting, production and packaging
    • Reviews and responds to changing market dynamics, as indicated through market analysis, customer interaction and sales input, to ensure achievement of goals by directing activities of product management and working with medical/marketing communications.
    • Leads fulfillment and distributions strategies, Direct-To-Patient initiatives, customer service programs, and manages conversion and retention strategies.
    • Works cross-functionally with internal stakeholders to ensure cohesive strategy.
    • Must conduct their work activities in compliance with all AbbVie internal requirements and with all applicable regulatory requirements. AbbVie internal requirements include compliance with ethics, environmental health and safety, financial, human resources, and general business policies, requirements and objectives.


The following listed requirements need to be met at a minimum level to be considered for the job:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field, MBA Preferred
  • 3-5 years Product Management health care industry
  • Established track record in managing industry-based marketing functions.
  • Highly desired: Experience in Consumer Package Goods (CPG) or Health and Beauty Care (HBC).
  • Highly desired: Experience marketing to health care providers
  • Highly desired: DTC experience
  • Highly desired: Experience marketing through online retailers
  • Highly desired: Experience Launching Over the Counter (OTC) products in the consumer health space
  • Ability to develop key strategies and execute
