The Director, GMAP role will join the Global Market Access team for Early Pipeline products developing the global market access strategy and tactics to support the overall brand plan. In addition, this role will develop brand pricing strategies and novel access initiatives. In addition, the role will also support initiatives within the Cell Therapy Pipeline team as needed including business development initiatives

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director, Global Market Access and Pricing, Early Pipeline will:
  • Develop and execute global market access strategies and programs for Kite Cellular Therapy to advise, support and strengthen commercialization activities including clinical development, marketing and market access
  • Lead development of Market Access strategies and core Global P&R deliverables operating within the cross-functional, cross-regional commercialization process
  • Accountable for the market access and payer perspective to be reflected in cross functional strategies (product development, medical affairs, regulatory affairs, commercial)
  • Responsible for Global payer strategic planning to support access and pricing optimization. Lead development of market access strategy which integrates- value evidence generation, strategic pricing, stakeholder engagement to support successful reimbursement and pricing
  • Support strategies with deep functional knowledge, in-depth market research, environmental data & analogs
  • Inform financial forecasts
  • Partner with Health Economics & Outcomes Research (HEOR), Real-World Evidence (RWE) and Global Marketing to ensure robust value proposition and integrated evidence plans are optimized to support global market access and reimbursement
  • Provide input into clinical development programs to capture value, align to what is meaningful to patients, support a differentiated target product profile (TPP), and ensure the right evidence is collected to support reimbursement and pricing negotiation
  • Work with cross-functional business partners to develop and support product value proposition to optimize access, reimbursement and uptake throughout the lifecycle of Kite products
  • Identify global HEOR evidence requirements and gaps with HEOR counterpart; coordinate with HEOR to develop studies, models and tools to support value demonstration and product differentiation for assigned indication(s)
  • Develop and Support Kite Global Market Access Strategy and implement the Global Market Access strategy for assigned cell therapy products - both in the Global organization and with key markets
  • Develop pricing strategies for current portfolio and LRP
  • Provide Market Access input into clinical development programs and early asset product development
  • Maintain up-to-date awareness of industry regulatory issues and research relationships with key HTA authorities
  • Assessment and communication of external access trends to anticipate potential challenges and opportunities for pipeline & inline portfolio.
  • Gather and synthesize feedback for development programs with health technology assessment agencies, payers, and relevant patient associations within assigned regions
  • Support development and regional customization of the access strategy and delivery of the Payer Value Proposition
  • Guide the organization on the Payer Evidence strategy and its incorporation in the asset development program, including endpoint recommendations in trials
  • Refine deliverables by payer type within assigned region
  • Pricing strategy & access strategy and decision support
  • Support the development of the global access strategy for assigned assets, including portfolio, market archetype, and lifecycle considerations
  • Develop Global Pricing Policy including by region/ payer type as needed to optimize the business opportunity for Kite, following appropriate approval governance
  • Guidance on managing product launch within proposed price corridor, launch sequence and negotiation playbook tools/techniques


Basic Qualifications

High School Diploma with 16+ years' market access, marketing and/or business development experience

OR

Associates degree with 14+ years' market access, marketing and/or business development experience

OR

Bachelor's degree with 12+ years' market access, marketing and/or business development experience

OR

Master's degree with 10+ years' market access, marketing and/or business development experience

OR

PhD with 8+ years' market access, marketing and/or business development experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in healthcare environment, preferably pharmaceutical industry or related consulting services, sufficient to have developed a deep understanding of the global payer and market access environment
  • Extensive understanding of the Global hematology / oncology market access landscape and the business of cell therapy
  • Knowledge and understanding of drug development process
  • Pharmaceutical business leadership, including experience in strategy development and interaction with customers
  • Familiarity with strategic and operating planning processes
  • Knowledge and understanding of health economics and associated skills
  • Experience managing people in a cross-cultural environment
  • Strong negotiation skills and a demonstrated ability to design new payment models and access strategies that can address market access needs and overcome market barriers
  • Strong understanding of US and EU regional cell therapy coverage and reimbursement with demonstrated ability to successfully address customer objections/questions
  • Demonstrated marketing and market access leadership and success
  • Proven ability to build coalitions and develop strong partnerships across functions
  • Highly skilled in influencing cross-functional teams, including interfacing with key internal and external stakeholders and with scientific and commercial teams
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, including ability to synthesize data and deliver a clear overview of commercial strategy, opportunity and risks
  • Knowledge in managing various market segments including distribution, OCM / APM and physician networks, patient access and reimbursement, health plans
  • High level of sophistication / interpersonal savvy needed to influence CEOs, CFOs, etc.
  • Executive presence and ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Outstanding writing and presentation skills
  • Ability to work under pressure, to take accountability for business challenges, think strategically and tackle complex problems
  • Intellectual curiosity and ability to spot trends/ patterns
  • Strong customer-orientation; an ability to see issues from the point of view of others
  • Ability to work successfully and cooperatively with colleagues across multiple cultures and time-zones
