Who we are
Atreca is an integrated biotechnology company located in South San Francisco, California (moving in 2021 to a new campus in San Carlos, CA). We apply our proprietary drug discovery platform to profile clinically relevant, active B cell responses in patients receiving successful treatment and, in turn, develop a portfolio of antibody therapeutics against novel tumor targets with the potential to treat large patient populations. Atreca seeks talented, driven individuals who are dedicated to making a positive impact on human health and are motivated to become key members of a growing biotechnology company.
Position Summary
We are seeking an outstanding and highly motivated scientist to join our Protein Engineering group and become a key member of the research team. The successful candidate will exhibit a “drug hunter” mentality, rooted in protein engineering approaches. The candidate will lead cross-functional drug discovery projects that combine anti-tumor antibodies from our patient-derived portfolio with bispecific antibody engineering platforms, for example, T cell engagers, NK cell engagers, myeloid cell modulation, and cytokine fusions.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead bispecific projects from concept through design, engineering, and validation
- Collaborate with in vitro and in vivo pharmacology teams to integrate mechanism of action, protein engineering, and functional screening
- Expand in-house technologies as needed, for example, building and purifying various asymmetric bispecifics
- Enable faster and higher-throughput cycles of design/build/test/learn
- Contribute to patents, publications, and technical reports
- Follow laboratory safety guidelines and practices
Required Skills and Qualifications
- A degree in bioengineering, biochemistry, immunology, or related discipline
- PhD + 4, MS + 8, or BS + 10 years of relevant biotech/pharma industry experience
- Significant experience with engineering bispecific antibodies is preferred
- Significant experience with cancer immunotherapy is preferred
- Experience with FPLC and HPLC is a plus
- Experience with Biacore or Octet is a plus
- Experience with developability analyses and assays is a plus
- Experience with yeast display is a plus
- Experience with protein modeling and structure-based design is a plus
- Strong analytical skills, excellent communication skills, and attention to detail
- Track record of being innovative, adaptable, and scientifically rigorous
- Ability to work in a team, prioritize tasks, and drive projects to completion
