The Systems group within the Development Operations Systems and Process department at Gilead Sciences is responsible for managing operational data for various aspects of clinical trial management from study start to finish. We work closely with many functional groups within Development to facilitate improved electronic processes and assist with data needs. To provide these services we participate in business process analysis to develop software, create data analyses, generate reports, and maintain the required systems.

Specific Responsibilities:

An ideal candidate is one that is able to participate in cross-functional teams to help assess required needs, assist with a software development or data analysis plan involving the business partners, and work within guidelines on the project until its timely completion. This requires strong collaboration, technical communication, and problem solving skills. Adapting to the changing needs of our internal business partners will also require a willingness to learn new technologies and systems.

Essential Duties and Job Functions:

• Use project-specified technologies to create custom applications to facilitate data integration and presentation, workflows, and reporting
• Develop interactive data visualizations using web-based technologies or Spotfire to drive decision making
• Provide application support and assist with application maintenance
• Participate in needed software configuration, documentation, and validation

Knowledge, Experience & Skills

• 7+ Years with BS, BA, and or relevant experience, 4+ Years with MS, MBA

• Expert in a general purpose programming language such as C#, Python, or Java
• Front end web development experience using JavaScript and React. Experience with Webpack, npm, and frontend testing frameworks is a plus.
• Proficient in a SQL dialect and a relational database management system, preferably MS SQL Server.
• Expert in creating proper database schemas and optimizing them for the intended workload
• Experience using functional unit tests throughout development to ensure quality
• Good verbal and written communication skills and organizational skills are required.
• Pharmaceutical industry experience a plus
