Specific Responsibilities and Skills

The AssociateDirector is accountable for liaising with Gilead commercial Sales Analytics, Incentive compensation & Data Strategy leadership team and related stakeholders. The role will be involved from the ideation of IT solutions for business needs through to successful execution of these initiatives supporting America's region initially and eventually will evolve to support Globally. Projects may include Analytics Cloud Transformation projects, supporting commercial Product Launches, Data strategy projects, development of custom applications to automate business processes, extending enterprise technologies, and supporting IT Operations and Solution Delivery teams to enhance business effectiveness. Critical to the role will be championing projects and working with business teams to prioritize across initiatives. Also, works with Commercial IT leadership in assisting in the management of the application portfolio of multiple Business Units. This position may be responsible for directing additional IT resources as required.

Essential Duties and Job Functions

General responsibilities for this position will include (but are not limited to) the following:
  • To be a strong, credible, strategic, value generating business partner and trusted advisor to Commercial Sales Analytics, IC & Data strategy teams so that we can accurately represent business needs/priorities and make informed decisions in strategically investing in technology to enable business outcomes
  • Oversee the long term planning and implementation of key technology solutions to support Commercial Sales Analytics & Operations teams , Incentive compensation and Data strategy & governance teams.
  • Partner with Commercial Data strategy team to influence and identify onboarding of right commercial data sets and integrate into analytics warehouse to support effective decision making for field, marketing & Brand teams
  • Collaborate with Sales Analytics team to enhance current field facing analytical solutions and support new product launches
  • Collaborate with commercial Incentive compensation teams to enhance and automate data processing through enablement of technology solutions
  • Analyze business context/needs (current business process and future strategies) to derive detailed business case, cost plans, and user requirements.
  • Work cross-functionally as a key contributor to the overall success of a global dynamic IT function to participate in projects from concept to deployment. Manage the planning, development, design, testing and implementation of assigned projects, including scope, work breakdown, schedules, budget and delivery.
  • Contribute to the global/regional planning of IT projects and manage the IT portfolio
  • Key Contributor and Thought leader to enable Dev/Ops model within IT to support agile delivery for Commercial business
  • Keeps Business and IT Leadership informed of important technology related changes in each of their respective areas.
  • Work with system integrators, system vendors, and project team members to advise them on key architectural decisions concerning commercial analytical eco-system
  • Partner with Delivery team to provide oversight and accountability over project delivery.
  • Collaborate with IT Support team(s) to provide oversight and coordination between IT and business on system bugs and issues.
  • Develops or establishes strong relationships with service providers.
  • Provide guidance, mentoring, assistance and development to colleagues on cross training and technical development of staff.
  • Must be quality oriented and ensure all work streams are aligned with company and IT compliance/audit/SOX standards.
  • Supports system and project feasibility studies to support capability enablement for Commercial teams.
  • Collaborates with business unit leadership to facilitate business process reengineering with the BU community.
  • Projects are managed and monitored to assure benefits are met and potential bottlenecks or failures are identified and solved in due time.
  • Ensure resources, either internal from IT Department or external are secured to meet business demands.
  • Deploy solutions that meet business requirements in accordance with agreed plans, timelines and budgets.
  • Ensure all requests are documented, screened and scheduled according to designated priorities.
  • Promote opportunities for applying technology to business problems; champion introduction of new technology or improvement of existing tools and solutions.

Knowledge, Experience and Skills
  • Experienced leader in building commercial Analytical solutions within a pharmaceutical or commercial biopharmaceutical organization, with a diverse and broad set of expertise on commercial Sales Analytics solutions , Incentive compensation process & Data acquisition strategies.
  • Deep understanding of commercial data sets like IQVIA DDD, XPO , XPD, LAAD, SHAPTD, Specialty pharmacy ,copay , patient assistance programs data , Hub .
  • Demonstrates strong technical understanding of Data warehousing process, Develops methodologies, cloud technologies.
  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of the current and future technology architecture, including the inter-operability of technologies, within the areas of Data warehousing , Analytics & Cloud technologies .
  • The Commercial Director should have deep experience with:
    • Cloud Architecture and should have led major transformation projects
    • Support and build Field analytics to drive sales performance
    • Improve and build automated processes for IC analytics & Support IC team for Field rep goal and performance evaluation
    • Drive operational efficiencies across data, analytics and Sales analytics project initiatives
  • The Commercial Director should have experience with following technologies:
    • Cloud architecture and services (Preferably Azure)
    • Integration technologies Like Informatica, Dell Boomi etc.
    • Visualization and reporting technologies like Tableau, MicroStrategy
    • Teradata
    • Experience in managing Salesforce app development is a plus
    • AI/ML project and management experience is a plus

Education & Experience

Typical candidates will possess:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, MIS, CS or other IT related major
  • 8 or more years supporting commercial Sales Analytics operations and Data strategy processes
  • 10 or more years experience in Data warehousing
  • 5 or more years in cloud computing and driving cloud transformation projects

Additional Preferred Skills
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.

- Management skills and driving cross functional and multiple vendor teams is a big Plus
- Prior working experience in a Pharmaceutical company is a big plus
- Highly organized, results-oriented and attentive to details, self-motivated, proactive, independent and responsive - requires little supervisory attention
