Job Details
In addition to leading strategic planning processes and teams in a non-positional leadership role, this person will apply deep scientific knowledge to identify critical path activities, cross-functional impacts or interdependencies, and opportunities for synergy in the research portfolio. With the expanding breadth and depth of Regeneron's portfolio, this position is integral to providing a holistic view and roadmap for Regeneron's portfolio. The successful candidate sees both the forest and the trees.A typical day in this role might include:
Project, Program, Portfolio Management
- Aligns and drives projects related to portfolio planning results to enable timely, informed decision making.
- Adeptly leads multiple projects and teams independently, promoting alignment of strategic goals with a keen understanding of internal/external interdependencies.
- Identifies critical gaps, risks, or issues and proactively addresses them.
- Understands and frames the relationships of individual projects to the broader portfolio and understands the anticipated data on scenario planning.
- Partners with program management and Research colleagues to ensure effective, accurate, and timely scientific / technical and program-related communication.
- Identifies and concisely summarizes key information. Adept at tailoring communications based on audience and distilling sophisticated information and identifies the most pertinent key information; optimally frames and communicates nuanced context for partners and collects rationale for decisions.
- Independently aims to build and strengthen teams and influence the direction of high-performance teams.
- Combines strong scientific, technical, and industry knowledge with strategic planning skills to manage Regeneron's pre-clinical pipeline, particularly at the intersection of Research and Development.
- Builds a thorough understanding of all core business functions of the organization and applies that knowledge to effectively support strategic and tactical initiatives consistent organizational objectives.
- Independently identifies and understands key data and functions needed to drive discussion and decision making throughout the discovery and drug development process. Quickly and proactively takes required next steps.
- Contributes to culture of continuous learning and improvement by defining, documenting, and assessing working/standard methodologies and tools, and using metrics to advise data-driven decision making for process improvement.
- Creates new processes with minimal guidance, develops, and gains alignment on process improvement solutions, earning trust from team members based on knowledge of technical/scientific challenges facing project teams.
- Partners with systems experts to define data structures and content that enable effective reporting, analysis, and projection of the research portfolio.
- When appropriate, gains alignment and leads the effort in defining, developing and implementing new systems and tools to support new or existing initiatives, which may include those that support cross-functional / broader R&D business needs.
- Have a strong scientific acuity and the ability to adeptly connect concepts across therapeutic and technology areas.
- Are able to organize, integrate, and distill complex information.
- Have excellent written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills; and can concisely summarize sophisticated information
- Have a passion for visual display of complex quantitative information.
- Are a strategic thinking around key scientific and operational issues, organizational processes and procedures.
- Are a forward-thinking thinker with strong interpersonal, team building, and communication skills; while enabling effective planning and execution.
- Are a self-starter who identifies and helps solve problems and is comfortable with ambiguity.
