Allakos (nasdaq: ALLK) is a clinical-stage company developing therapeutic antibodies that selectively target immunomodulatory receptors present on the surface of immune effector cells involved in allergic, inflammatory, and proliferative diseases. Our initial clinical focus is on eosinophilic gastrointestinal diseases, inflammatory diseases of the gastrointestinal tract. We are also conducting clinical trials for other mast cell and eosinophil-driven diseases.
Job Summary:

The Head of Human Resources (HR) provides leadership and guidance to the organization's HR operations. They are responsible for setting, enforcing, and evaluating legally compliant human resources policies, procedures, and best practices, and identifying and implementing long-range strategic talent management goals.

The Head of Human Resources encourages a high-performance culture that emphasizes productive collaboration, productivity, and learning and development.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Collaborates with executive leadership to create a plan for people that supports the mission through talent management.
  • Identifies key performance indicators for the organization's human resource and talent management functions; assesses the organization's success and market competitiveness based on these metrics.
  • Maintains knowledge of laws, regulations, and best practices in employment law, human resources, and talent management.
  • Ensures compliance with employment, benefits, insurance, safety, and other laws, regulations, and requirements.
  • Proactively initiates dialog with management, provides advice and solutions on issues affecting morale, performance, development and organizational effectiveness.
  • Researches, develops, and implements competitive compensation, benefits, performance appraisal, and employee incentive programs.
  • Provides guidance and leadership to the human resource team in all areas of HR
  • Oversees the organization's staffing budget, and the budget for the human resource department.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required; Master's or law degree highly preferred.
  • At least ten years of human resource experience required. Five years of leading a human resource department with strategic, talent management, and/or business development experience highly preferred.
  • Biotech experience strongly preferred
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP strongly preferred.
