Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and passionate individuals to join our Summer Internship Program! As an intern at Kite, you'll have the unique opportunity to learn about cell therapy from some of the brightest minds in biotech while making a meaningful impact. The Role

The Stem Cell program at Kite is looking for a hardworking intern to assist in the development of a novel T-cell differentiation platform using hematopoietic stem cells. The individual in this intern position willbe responsible for validating the effects of a small molecule library on the differentiation of hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) to T-cell Progenitors (Pro-Ts). They will also assist in improving the differentiation by optimizing the use of the small molecules i.e. efficient concentration, efficient delivery.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Culture of primary hematopoietic stem cells
  • Making solutions containing small molecule candidates
  • Assist with preparing solutions for flow cytometry experiments
  • Performing flow cytometry experiments
  • Assisting in the design of experiments
  • Data analysis and presentation at group meetings


Basic Qualifications:
  • Must be at least 18 years or older
  • Must be currently enrolledin a full time Graduate Degree program at an accredited university/college
  • Must have completed at least one year of study at an accredited university/college prior to internship commencing
  • Must be enrolled in the Fall Semester at an accredited university/college after the completion of the internship
  • Must be able to complete a 10-12 consecutive week internship between June and September
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without Kite sponsorship
  • Must not be employed at the time the internship starts


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Degree concentration(s) in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Immunology, Bioengineering, related Life Science majors.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite
  • Ability to identify issues and seek solutions
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Efficient, organized, and able to handle short timelines in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge and/or experience in Molecular and Cellular Biology
  • Experience with cell culture of primary cells and cell lines especially those of the hematopoietic lineage
  • Experience with flow cytometry and necessary data analysis software (i.e Flowjo and PRISM)
  • Experience in qPCR
  • Ability to calculate molarity and concentration of solutions, including being able to convert between different units of measurement without oversight
  • Strong conceptual grasp of molecular and cellular biology concepts such as PCR, RNA sequencing, molecular cloning, and mammalian cell culture
