Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and passionate individuals to join our Summer Internship Program! As an intern at Kite, you'll have the unique opportunity to learn about cell therapy from some of the brightest minds in biotech while making a meaningful impact. The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join the allogeneic cell therapy group as a summer intern. You will have the opportunity to work with and support a research team that is focused on developing "off-the-shelf" chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapies. Under the supervision of a mentor, you will be expected to identify, develop, and perform experiments to evaluate potential mechanisms of immune evasion that can prevent host rejection of our allogeneic CAR T cells. You will also be given an opportunity to analyze, document, and communicate your findings in team meetings.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Generate and characterize genetically modified T-cells using in vitro functional assays
  • Develop and perform assays to identify potential mechanisms of tolerance or rejection of allogeneic CAR-T products elicited by various immune cells (i.e. NK cells, T cells, etc)
  • Maintain cell lines needed to support experiments
  • Documenting experiments in laboratory notebooks in a timely manner
  • Presenting data and contribute to weekly team meetings
  • Other duties as needed


Basic Qualifications:
  • Must be at least 18 years or older
  • Must be currently enrolledin a full time Bachelor's Degree program at an accredited university/college
  • Must have completed at least one year of study at an accredited university/college prior to internship commencing
  • Must be enrolled in the Fall Semester at an accredited university/college after the completion of the internship
  • Must be able to complete a 10-12 consecutive week internship between June and September
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without Kite sponsorship
  • Must not be employed at the time the internship starts


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Degree concentration(s) in Cellular Biology or Immunology
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite
  • Ability to identify issues and seek solutions
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Efficient, organized, and able to handle short timelines in a fast-paced environment
  • Completion of a cell biology course and understanding of basic immunology prior to joining the team is preferred
  • 0-2 years of research/ laboratory experience
  • Prior experience with flow cytometry, molecular cloning techniques, cell culture, aseptic techniques (i.e. handling/maintaining tumor cell lines)
  • Understanding of basic immunology
