Position Summary

The Director, Medical Affairs, Neurology will oversee all medical affairs activities of the Neurology therapeutic area. The Director is responsible for the medical strategies, the input into medical information responses, the scientific communications including poster presentations and publications (in conjunction with the Global Publication team), the design and medical monitoring of US-based clinical studies, and the approval of educational grants. The Director works with the director of MSL team in developing and managing regional relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs), working with KOLs on externally-sponsored study requests, providing internal (& relevant external) training, and preparing/supervising responses to Medical Information requests so that customers will be informed about the Neurology products and therapeutic areas in which Ipsen markets. Key internal partners include the Medical Affairs and clinical operations group running the Neurology studies, the Neurology commercial team, the Value and Access team, and global Neurology franchise medical personnel.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including global, value and access and commercial teams among other teams within Ipsen to provide medical/scientific expertise and marketplace feedback
  • Drive the scientific publication plan in US and design and run clinical studies in conjunction with Medical Affairs Operations group
  • Ensure appropriate scientific, disease and Ipsen product training for MSL team and other internal partners
  • Support Development, update and supervision the execution of the Neurology KOL identification process
  • Create & disseminate medically sound information to support the safe & effective use of Ipsen Neurology products (adhering to Regulatory and Ipsen guidelines)
  • Provide strategic support and leadership the execution of scientific ad boards, medical plans and cross-functional partners within medical affairs
  • Offer medical input and manage budgets for clinical grants and medical education support activities (through Grants manager)
  • Manage Travel and Expense budget in keeping with Ipsen guidelines


Education
  • MD, PHD or PharmD with experience in Neurology preferably with Toxins
  • Board eligible or certified Neurologist preferred


Core Competencies
  • Minimum 3-5 years in pharmaceutical industry, with most in Medical Affairs, but some clinical trials/research experience a plus
  • Experience in presenting and publishing scientific information to groups to different scientific backgrounds
  • Knowledge of clinical trial design, medical monitoring and biostatistics
