Position Summary:

The commercial insights and analytics lead will lead a team responsible for driving the analytics strategy, capabilities, and performance across the commercial organization. This individual provides strategic oversight & management of the Sales & Marketing Analytics, Forecasting, Pull-Through Analytics and data reporting functions across all business units and key commercial functions. This leader is responsible for using analytics and insights to provide strategic market insights that enable effective, data driven decision-making to franchise leadership across brands.

Responsibilities:

  • Proactively identify business questions (e.g., market trends, product performance, marketing campaign development and performance, market access analytics, sales force organization design, call planning) and determine the optimal approach to answer them through data, analytics, market research, etc.
  • Effectively collaborate with multiple key stakeholders across the various business units to define strategies and processes that scale across current and future portfolio growth
  • Bring data and customer insights into the forefront of corporate and product level strategy & decision making
  • Develop and maintain in line product and pipeline product forecasts across all brands
  • Provide strategic direction, planning and insights to the organization to ensure goal achievement, ROI, and appropriate investment in people, systems, and process needs
  • Lead the design and execution of in-depth data analytics projects (data vendor identification, analysis design/ business rules, summary, and presentation of results) to increase overall commercial success
  • Maintain industry awareness regarding market trends, competition, and product acceptance affecting the functional area

 


Qualifications and Skills Required:

 

 

  • Bachelor's and/or master's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Data Science, Information Science, Economics, Accounting, Engineering or related field
  • 12+ years of business experience ideally in business planning, analysis or analytics - recently at or near the executive level
  • Experienced people manager with 5+ years' experience managing people
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical data sources and their application to support business decisions
  • Experience utilizing limited/ sub-optimal data to gain insights in specialty pharmaceutical products or orphan/ rare diseases
  • Market research expertise
  • Ability to combine primary data sources and secondary market research insights to support sales and marketing strategies and forecasting
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical field force designs, territory alignments, and resource allocation effectiveness
  • Demonstrated business acumen, proven ability in translating ideas into concepts, gaining budget and delivering results on budget and on time
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong PC and software skills including Microsoft Office Suite, Tableau and PowerBI (among others)
  • Exceptional organizational, time, and task management skills; ability to prioritize critical tasks and maintain high degree of accuracy amid competing deadlines
  • Team player with the ability to work collaboratively in a global, matrix organization
  • Strong business acumen knowing how business works; knowledgeable in current and possible future policies, practices, trends, technology, and information affecting the pharma industry, business and organization
  • Excellent business acumen and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work across business lines at a senior level to influence and effect change
