Position Summary:

At Horizon, the human resources specialist, employee relations, plays a critical and visible role in supporting our HR Team and employees. Our goal is to provide the highest level of service and support to Horizon employees and managers. As a member of the ER team, you will provide exceptional communication and organizational skills to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-volume and dynamic work environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Foster positive working relationships and support HR Business Partner with various employee issues
  • Establish and foster collaborative working relations with key stakeholders that can include HR, Legal, IT, and Payroll
  • Assist with development, implementation, support, and review all HR department initiatives, policies, and procedures
  • Support and coordinate roll-out of mandatory HR training programs
  • Coordinate offboarding process for resignations and involuntary separations
  • Conduct exit interviews with employees and share feedback with HR leadership
  • Assist with answering ad-hoc questions when needed and escalate as appropriate
  • Compose various memos, letters, various other communications as needed.
  • Manage and maintain employee files, including employee file room, and respond to requests for files as needed
  • Manage and support HR initiatives and projects as directed by HR leadership


Qualifications and Skills Required:
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as an HR specialist, or working knowledge of HR functions and procedures (e.g., pay and benefits, recruitment, training and development)
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, including knowledge of EEOC, ADA, Workers' Compensation, and FMLA. Experience, immigration is a plus
  • Flexibility and agility to manage changing priorities and other unexpected events to deliver successful outcomes
  • Outstanding communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
  • Aptitude for critical thinking, problem solving and decision making
  • Strength of character, ethics and commitment and reliability
  • Proficient in MS Office, Outlook, knowledge of Workday a plus
