Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and passionate individuals to join our Summer Internship Program! As an intern at Kite, you'll have the unique opportunity to learn about cell therapy from some of the brightest minds in biotech while making a meaningful impact. The Role:

The individual in this intern position willbe responsible for the development of a web-based application to correlate genomics and proteomics data with relevant clinical parameters in cancer. The datasets may include, Kite's internal RNA and DNA datasets, gene expression from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA), the Clinical Proteomic Tumor Analysis Consortium, and other datasets from collaborators. Associations will be made with clinical co-variants, i.e. PK/PD, overall survival, response, etc. The application developed, will enable hypothesis generation and data exploration. The work will include collaborating with various scientific groups including bioinformatics, R&D IT, clinical translation, bed to bench and biostatistics teams.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • In-silico research on available software tools and methodologies to enable multi-omics data integration
  • Comparative analysis and benchmarking of available tools leading to the selection of suitable methods
  • Design, implementation and deployment of an RShiny application to enable multi-omics data integration and visualization.


Basic Qualifications:
  • Must be at least 18 years or older
  • Must be currently enrolledin a full-time master or Ph.D. degree program at an accredited university/college
  • Must have completed at least one year of study at an accredited university/college prior to internship commencing
  • Must be enrolled in the Fall Semester at an accredited university/college after the completion of the internship
  • Must be able to complete a 10-12 consecutive week internship between June and September
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without Kite sponsorship
  • Must not be employed at the time the internship starts


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Degree concentration(s) in Biology, Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Data Sciences, Biostatistics or Computer Sciences.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite
  • Ability to identify issues and seek solutions
  • Efficient, organized, and able to handle short timelines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to engage and manage multiple partners to achieve the objective
  • Experience in R programming
  • Interest in learning how to develop and deploy R Shiny web-application
