Position Summary:

Through the ongoing advancement of our late-stage development pipeline, Retrophin is entering an exciting period with the potential to ultimately deliver new treatment options to patients living with rare disease. To support our continued growth and expand our ability to communicate our culture and mission, we are seeking a strategic, motivated and experienced communications professional for the position of Executive Director, Corporate Communications.

This position will be responsible for leading efforts in sharing the Retrophin story to our many stakeholders through internal cross functional, and external partner collaboration. Will develop and manage a global communications strategy and framework that supports the corporate vision and milestone achievements, development program updates, product approval/launches, thought leadership, narrative building and clear and consistent communication to various stakeholders.

Essential Functions:

  • Leverage a global calendar of internal/external events and meetings to develop and ensure consistent and engaging strategic messaging, communication flow and alignment with Retrophin's culture, mission, vision and values.
  • Lead a small, highly motivated and talented team to align all communications initiatives and oversee execution.
  • Partners with and provides strategic counsel and expertise to leaders across the organization for their communications needs - especially Patient Advocacy, Human Resources, Government Affairs, Legal, R&D and Commercial/Marketing.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to develop thought leadership opportunities and communication programs for executives/functions.
  • Lead the development of platforms that communicate the company's vision, strategic imperatives and thought leadership to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain and develop media relationships along with supporting strategies.
  • In conjunction with our commercial organization, collaborate on development of communications plans to best support new product launches.
  • Draft/manage key message documents, press releases, and communications as needed.
  • Provide oversight of employee communications in various forums including town halls, intranet, all company emails and many other modalities.
  • Craft strategic timelines and scripts related to important and/or sensitive company events.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and applicable job experience can be considered.
  • 12 years previous experience in a communications role or related field.
  • A passion for communications and supporting an organization committed to providing hope for patients and families living with rare disease.
  • Corporate biotech experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated strength in strategic, global thinking, planning, and decision making.
  • Ability to maintain composure and situational awareness in a highly dynamic environment.
  • Commitment to quality and attention to detail.
  • Responsiveness, multi-tasking and balancing demands while managing multiple deliverables/deadlines.
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven collaborator with a strong ability to work effectively across functions and levels.
  • Ability to counsel and interface successfully with senior executives and communications peers.
  • Proactive, self-starter; able to work independently and in team environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Demonstrated effective leader of teams and people.
