MyoKardia seeks a highly motivated, creative and collaborative Molecular Biologist to join our newly established Molecular Biology function. This person will support research efforts to discover and develop novel therapies for the treatment of serious cardiovascular disease, including inherited cardiomyopathies and heart failure. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with teams in Biochemistry/Biophysics, Protein Production, Cell Biology and Disease Biology to support MyoKardia's discovery and translational efforts. Research will be aimed at the identification and characterization of novel therapeutic targets, support of compound screening efforts, and translational work to fully characterize our drug candidates. The candidate will be a highly motivated individual with extensive experience in Molecular Biology techniques and Cell Line Engineering. This position provides the exciting opportunity to be a part of and grow with a new core function within the Biology Department.


  • Perform nucleotide manipulation techniques such as DNA/RNA extraction, purification, quantification, PCR amplification, gel electrophoresis, restriction digestion, gel extraction, ligation.
  • Perform DNA vector creation techniques such as Gibson assembly, Golden gate assembly, TOPO cloning, Gateway cloning, bacterial transformation, plating and colony selection, plasmid amplification, plasmid purification, sequence verification.
  • In support of our translational efforts, execute gene-editing, knock-in and knock-out experiments with mammalian cells, including iPSCs.
  • Design, conduct and analyze qPCR and RT-qPCR experiments to assess gene copy-numbers and mRNA expression levels in genetically engineered models.
  • Conduct sequencing and omics studies (incl. WGS, RNA-seq, WES), in collaboration with our Bioinformatics team
  • Prepare reports, publications and present to senior management and cross-functional teams.
  • Track and assess new developments in Molecular Biology techniques and technologies.
  • Other projects when assigned.



  • D. in synthetic/molecular biology, biochemistry or bioengineering with at least 2 years of research experience in the biotechnology or biopharmaceutical industry.
  • A strong background in molecular biology and cell biology is a must.
  • Solid background in gene-editing, gene expression analyses, next-gen sequencing and omics approaches are all desirable.


  • Requires a minimum of 3 years of relevant research experience.
  • Extensive hands-on working experience in modern methods of Molecular Biology, including CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing, shRNA, RNAi methodology, and gene expression analyses.
  • Engineering of different heterologous expression systems, incl. bacterial, yeast, mammalian and insect cell systems.
  • Experience with NGS workflows and familiarity with WGS, WES, RNA-Seq, ChIP-Seq etc.
  • Experience in working with stem cells, iPSC-derived cells or primary cells is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with viral vector work (AAV, lenti, adeno).
