Who You Are

The preclinical Associate/Senior Associate Scientist will be responsible for all technical laboratory activities to support BridgeBio's growing gene therapy portfolio. The incumbent will report to the Senior Preclinical Scientist and work closely with other team members to develop and evaluate new therapeutic candidates in preclinical models to select final candidates for clinical evaluation. This role is a hands-on, laboratory-based research position in our Raleigh, NC laboratory.

Responsibilities
  • Perform in vitro experiments, including planning, data analysis, interpretation, and technical troubleshooting, to support formal R&D activities
  • Test animal samples and AAV materials coming from contract vendors, collaborators, and vector production facilities to support preclinical development
  • Assist with histology operations for routine tissue staining (H&E) and project-specific staining (IHC, FISH, RNAseq)
  • Assist in vector production and isolation
  • Assist in the design, development, and qualification of new technical capacities and experiments for the assessment of new lead candidates
  • Assist in the authorship of development reports, SOPs, qualification plans and reports, and the archiving of data
  • Interface closely with other team members, including the CMC department, project management, and document control to ensure on-time completion of goals

Education, Experience & Skills Requirements
  • BS/MS in virology, cell biology, biochemistry, or related field with 5-8 years of experience
  • Biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry experience strongly preferred
  • Cell culture experience, including transfection and transduction techniques using Adeno-Associated Virus and/or Lentiviral systems, is required
  • Experience in molecular techniques, including gDNA/RNA isolation procedures, cloning, and detection assays (ddPCR, qPCR) is required. Experience with viral production and purification is desired
  • Experience with cryostat and microtome operation is beneficial.
  • Proficiency in assessments of protein expression (western blot, ELISA, flow cytometry) is essential for this position
  • Must be able to accurately document procedures and archive data in digital formats. Attention to detail and adherence to protocols are expected
  • Applicants should be self-motivated, organized, have strong interpersonal skills, good problem-solving skills, effective written and oral communication, an understanding of safe lab practices and BSL requirements, and an understanding of AAV biology
