As the Scientist, VI Next, a typical day might include the following:

- Optimizing CRISPR-based ex vivo gene editing platform, improving editing efficiency and minimizing off-target effects.

- Establishing and culture mammalian cell lines and primary cells.

- Establishing and optimizing CRISPR delivery methods; customizing CRISPR-based ex vivo gene editing protocols to different primary cell types.

- Designing and establishing assays, including functional assays, to evaluate gene editing efficiency and off-target effects; validating CRISPR-based gene editing at genetic, protein expression, and functional levels.

- Performing high throughput gRNA screening based on targeting efficiency and off-target effects.

- Innovating modifications in guide RNA design and chemistry to improve editing

- Conducting experiments using state-of-the-art molecular and cell biology techniques

- Designing experiments, analyzing data and communicating findings in meetings

- You have the ability to innovate and think out of the box

- You have excellent interpersonal skills

- You have the ability to work effectively with diverse groups - both large and small

- You have a high attention to detail

To be considered for this opportunity, you must have a PhD in molecular/cellular biology, genetics, biochemistry or bioengineering, with 1-3 years of CRISPR based gene editing experience. Deep understanding of various gene editing platforms and consistent track record of optimizing CRISPR-based gene editing is required. Demonstrated proficiency with primary human and/or murine cell engineering using ex-vivo CRISPR gene editing. Experience of working with different types of mammalian cells including primary cells. Experience with delivery techniques for CRISPR based gene editing ex-vivo (electroporation, LNP, viral mediated). Experience with large scale screening assays is definitely a plus.
