Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is seeking a Senior R&D Specialist for our Tarrytown, NY location to join the Viral Vector Technologies group, which aims to develop novel viral vector-based gene therapies for diverse medical applications (cancer, immunological disorders, neurodegenerative disease, infectious disease, metabolic disease etc.). Responsibilities include: design, produce, and titrate viral vectors in BSL2 and BSL2+ conditions using cell culture, molecular biology and virology techniques; assess the efficacy of innovative viral vectors for gene delivery in different in vitro and in vivo models of disease; optimize viral vectors production process utilizing proteins concentration, purification and chromatography techniques; develop new cell-based and in vivo assays to characterize the quality and biodistribution of viral vectors; engineer, produce and characterize recombinant viral proteins and antibodies using biochemical and immunological assays; support other research groups at Regeneron in their gene transfer strategies with viral vectors; collect, analyze, and interpret scientific data independently; provide input and suggest improvements to experimental designs and methods; document findings and lab records in electronical notebooks; document and implement routinely used protocols and SOPs, maintain accurate and complete safety records consistent with company policies and legal requirements, recognize potential safety issues and proactively take actions if necessary to ensure workspace safety; prepare presentations with scientific data to support peer reviewed publications and regulatory document, conduct literature searches and technologies intelligence in the relevant fields or scientific research.

Qualified applicants will have a Master of Science degree or foreign equivalent in Biotechnology or a related field and 2 years of research experience. Employer will accept a Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology or a related field and 5 years of research experience. Must possess 2 years of experience in the following: Maintenance and transfection of adherent and in suspension mammalian cell cultures; Development of cell-based assays for detection of reporter proteins expression (fluorescent-based and luciferase reporter); Basic molecular biology techniques (molecular cloning, nucleic acids extraction and purification, PCR, qPCR); Analysis of proteins expression from cell cultures with basic biochemical and immunological assays including western blot, ELISA, and multiplexed flow cytometry; microscopy (brightfield and epifluorescence); managing and executing a high number of biochemical and immunological assays in parallel; designing and carrying out experiments, troubleshooting techniques, performing data analysis and providing data reports with minimum supervision; bio-informatic and biological data analysis software (MacVector, BLAST, GrahPad, FlowJo, ImageJ); and maintaining reagents inventory and a lab notebook.
