Scientist (Formulation Development)

Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is seeking a Scientist (Formulation Development) for our Tarrytown, NY location. Lead developability assessment projects to generate data in supporting selecting the monoclonal and bispecific antibody drug candidates for preclinical and clinical development. Support formulation, stability, compatibility studies to enable preclinical development of drug candidates. Responsible for formulation development and product development activities that involve developing lyophilized or liquid formulations for all phases of clinical and commercial development. Develop fit-for-purpose analytical methods to support formulation and process development and research stability testing. Independently design, execute and document stability studies and other experiments to support stability testing and understand quality attributes to support formulations and stability. Carry out research on formulation, stability and characterization, and develop new formulation and drug delivery technologies. Present work at group, department and cross functional meetings, serves as a team representative in drug development team meetings, and shares knowledge and expertise of formulations development at cross-functional team meetings. Author and review formulation development sections of regulatory and technical documents, study reports and technology transfer documents. Participates in general lab and instrument maintenance.

Qualified applicants will possess a PhD degree or foreign equivalent in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering or a related field with the PhD research in studying protein formulation and protein stability and 1 year of relevant experience in biological drug candidate developability assessment in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry. Must possess 1 year of experience in the following: hands-on experience in protein thermodynamics and stability, protein characterization, analytical method development for protein formulation development; characterization of therapeutic protein, sources of protein instabilities as a drug, and analysis of appropriate analytical methods to monitor protein drug stability; hands-on experience and trouble-shooting ability with the following techniques: HPLC/UPLC, capillary electrophoresis, UV-vis spectroscopy, Dynamic light scattering, FT-IR for protein structure analysis, Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), viscometer for protein formulation characterizations; HIAC, MFI, FlowCAM, RMM for studying particulates in protein formulation; and using lyophilizer to prepare freeze dry protein formulation and to develop lyophilization process.
