The Immunology & Inflammation department is seeking a highly motivated, Ph.D. level Scientist with a strong background in Immunology and/or Neuroimmunology, with a focus on identification and evaluation of novel therapies for autoimmune disease. We are looking for a candidate who will utilize internal cutting-edge technologies, public and internal databases, and therapeutic modality agnostic approaches to support early stage target discovery and drug development in understanding neuro-immune interactions involved in tissue homeostasis and in disease settings. Proven ability to translate knowledge from animal models and/or in vitro primary cell assays and apply it towards the identification of targets/pathways as potential therapeutic modalities for immune diseases. Design and execute in vivo assays to support the characterization and evaluation of novel molecules as well as cell-based assays/other technologies to identify and study mechanisms of pathological inflammation.

As the Scientist, a typical day might include the following:

- Independently designing complex experiments, analyzing, evaluating, interpreting the data and being able to communicate results to management, department heads, and project teams
- Identifying and validating new targets/pathways with a focus on immune and/or neuro-immune interactions in context of tissue homeostasis and immune diseases
- Developing and optimizing disease mouse models of autoimmune and inflammatory diseases and analyzing associated pathologies by flow cytometry and other methodologies (e.g. RNASeq, histology, ELISA, MSD)
- Contributing to project management by developing and/or troubleshooting innovative methods, technology, and in vitro and in vivo model
- Interpreting and summarizing findings from large data sets
- Participating in departmental and cross-company meetings and collaborating/liaising others internally and externally
- Collaborating proactively with team members to coordinate in vivo experiments, and with other departments for cross-functional efforts

To be considered for this opportunity, you must have a PhD in Immunology, Neuroimmunology, Cellular and Molecular Biology, or a related field combined with 3+ years of proven experience (or postdoc). Experience with gut-brain axis and/or understanding of neuronal-tissue networks is highly desired. We are searching for an individual with extensive knowledge of immunology as well as an excellent publication record is preferred. Additionally, we are seeking a candidate with knowledge of molecular biology, biochemistry, cell culturing, and in vitro assay development. Experience establishing and characterizing autoimmune and/or CNS disease models. Hands on experience with multicolor flow cytometry and analysis, cellular biology & molecular biology techniques such as CRISPR, co-culture assay systems; experience with single cell RNASeq, CITESeq profiling/sequencing data in context of gut-brain axis is preferred.
