Summary: Lead a team that performs assay characterization, optimization, transfer, validation, qualification and investigation/troubleshooting for Quality Control Bioassay. Provide technical support, guidance and supervision for all tasks listed above. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background and be a motivating people leader.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Supervise and guide bioassay validation, qualification, characterization, optimization, transfer, and investigation activities.
• Review new test procedures and assays.
• May evaluate and bring in new methodologies/techniques when needed.
• Facilitate assay transfers from R&D and to business partners.
• Organize analytical assay transfers internally and externally.
• Participate in technical troubleshooting and assay investigations.
• Review technical documents, such as assay validation protocols and reports, reports, for technical correctness and regulatory compliance.
• Participate in training programs for analysts.
• Performs personnel management functions including time sheet approvals, scheduling of vacations, employee development, and employee evaluations.

• Experience with cell-based bioassays and automation is desired

Education and Experience:
Requires BS/BA Life Sciences or related field plus 8 years of experience working in a biopharmaceutical GMP environment, including 3+ years of management experience.
