We seek a Staff Accountant to join a dynamic Collaboration & Government Grants Accounting team, with a high focus on billing and accounting for our revenue generating agreements. Individual primarily responsible for compilation/submission of invoices for billings to our collaborators and government agencies and preparing accounting analyses as it relates to government grants. Works with other departments, including Finance, Treasury, and within Accounting to capture information necessary for accurate accounting and invoicing. Ensures that all internal control policies and procedures are followed.
JOB DUTIES: List essential (6-10) to be performed. These are the most critical responsibilities
Essential Functions required for the job. List both technical and managerial requirements if applicable.
  • Responsible for compilation/submission of invoices for billings to our collaborators and government agencies, including but not limited to the following:
  • Understanding the Company's Accounts Receivable (AR) module (processing, verifying, and posting of payments) to accurately generate invoices in various currencies, including understanding of respective tax jurisdictions
  • Ensuring standardized submissions
  • Maintaining a listing of invoice types by collaboration/government agency, including documenting/updating procedural manuals, as needed
  • Having knowledge of Accounting basics, including the following:
  • Reconciling AR module to the general ledger
  • Preparing aged receivables for Management reporting
  • Builds relationships with collaborators/government agencies, including effective communication on billing related inquiries
  • Works directly with Finance, Supply Chain, and other Accounting individuals to ensure completeness and accuracy of invoice submission
  • Works directly with Treasury to ensure completeness and accuracy of banking information
  • Responsible for monthly data collection, analysis, preparation, and recording of Accounting journal entries related to various government grants, including but not limited to the following:
  • Preparation/maintenance of monthly direct/indirect expense analyses for bi-annual audit sample selections
  • Assistance in the preparation/maintenance of quarterly dashboards
  • Completion of government surveys, as applicable
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ensure compliance with Company's SOX controls
  • Supports internal and external audit with requests, as needed

Technical accounting relating to US GAAP, and its application to tasks at hand preferred.We seek an individual who is a team player, interacts effectively with others, has the ability to think independently and proactively propose solutions, and wants to be challenged and grow with our company. High proficiency with Microsoft applications is required. Experience with financial applications is preferred, Oracle experience a plus. 2-4 years of relevant experience is highly preferred
