Are you interested in making a difference, in continually learning and working in a highly interactive environment with a diverse team of colleagues? If so, we need someone like you to consider working here at the RGC.

As a Manager, Statistical Genetics, a typical day includes having an outstanding opportunity to contribute to the analysis and interpretation of 100,000s of genotyped and sequenced humans, with the goal of generating the knowledge to help Regeneron to deliver better medicines to the patients who need them. Work collaboratively with other specialists in genomic data analysis, biology, computation and medicine to craft, execute and refine analyses that connect genetic variation to human diseases and health and to develop the methods and tools that will enable these analyses to be executed and interpreted at scale. Continually learn and acquire skills that are important for a productive career at the intersection of human genetics, biology, health and drug development. We look forward to learning more about you.

  • A familiarity with analytical approaches and challenges in modern human genetics and genomics or with statistical computing in another data-rich field.
  • An understanding of genomewide association and sequencing studies, techniques for modeling population structure and individual ancestry, mendelian randomization and/or analysis of polygenic risk scores.
  • Understanding of generalized linear mixed models, techniques for Bayesian computing and Monte Carlo analyses, understanding of machine learning and survival analysis, and methods and tools for data visualization.
  • Expertise working with commercial clouds or cluster environments, modern programming languages such as Javascript, Python, C/C++ or scala. The ideal candidate will also be familiar with one more of the standard tools for genomic analyses (PLINK, SAIGE, samtools, Minimac, GATK, etc.)
  • Ability to provide and incorporate feedback on analysis plans, results and summaries. Work iteratively in an outstanding team environment to define best practices and productive analysis strategies, execution plans, and summaries. Identify potential problems and propose remedies or refinements.
  • Expertise in developing analysis packages and tools is highly desired, as proven by contributions to GitHub or elsewhere.

To be considered for this role, you must have either an experience with genomewide analyses and approaches, including quality control options for genomic data, approaches for association analysis in the presence of relatedness or population structure, and approaches for burden based analyses. Experience with multiple tools for large scale genetic analyses (e.g. PLINK, EPACTS, SAIGE, minimac, METAL/RAREMETAL, etc.). OR Experience in statistical computing, including deep familiarity with research tools such as R and/or scala, familiarity with generalized linear models, Bayesian analyses, Markov Chain Monte Carlo methods, machine learning and data visualization. Experience with the R environment for statistical computing and with one or more modern programming language (Python, C/C++, Javascript). You will also need a Ph. D + 5 years' experience in Biostatistics, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Human Genetics or related field.
