Internship Program Overview

As an AbbVie intern, you will participate in a paid, ten to twelve-week summer program, work on meaningful assignments that have a real impact on our business and patients worldwide. Ideal candidates will combine technical and business knowledge with analytical strength and creative problem solving. The internship assignments are carried out in a variety of functional areas such as: Commercial, Operations, Research & Development, and Corporate.

AbbVie's worldwide business offers you an opportunity to work in a variety of fields, including:

  • Financial Analysis
  • Budgets, Plans and Forecasts
  • Reporting & Controls
  • Manufacturing Operations Accounting


As an intern you will be located at our corporate headquarters in north suburban Chicago. Throughout the summer there will be planned development and networking activities, along with paid housing and shuttle services for eligible students.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in related discipline:
    • Finance
    • Accounting
  • Strong academic performance, minimum cumulative GPA = 3.0/4.0
  • Completed at least two years of college education before beginning internship
  • Must be enrolled in school the semester following your internship
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a permanent basis without requiring sponsorship
  • School and/or work experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Dual major or minor in a related field is a plus
  • Ideal candidates will combine technical and business knowledge with analytical strength and creative problem-solving abilities
  • Demonstrated Leadership in school or student organization
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Previous internship or related experience preferred
  • Exceptional interpersonal, leadership and project management skills
  • Proven track record of teamwork, adaptability, innovation, initiative and integrity
AbbVie strongly considers high performing interns as candidates for their Finance Development Program (FDP) after they graduate. AbbVie's Financial Development Program (FDP) consists of four rotations over two years to prepare you for financial management roles. The roles are crafted to help you develop exceptional functional and leadership traits by working on a wide range of projects, while providing exposure to different leaders in the company. These finance experiences will develop you and put you on the fast track to future finance leadership opportunities at AbbVie. The rotations are carried out in a variety of functional areas such as: Commercial, Operations, Research & Development, and Corporate. You will also get experience by working cross functionally in a matrix environment, building your business acumen, and participating in key training sessions.
