This is a remote role and can be based out in the field. Candidate will be leading East MSL teams and ideally should be located within proximity to a major airport.
Job Summary
The Regional Director, US Field Medical, Oncology (East) will provide leadership and direction for a regional field-based team of Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs) whose role is to support products and/or product indications with an emphasis of Late or Early stage clinical development.
The position is responsible for leading regional level projects and initiatives through cross-functional alignment with including Clinical Development and Clinical Development Operations and within Medical Affairs. In addition, the Director will have demonstrated leadership commensurate with an executive level position at DSI. The position will be a member of the Field Medical Affairs Leadership Team.
Responsibilities
- Management of a team of 5-8 MSLs, including screening and recruiting candidates, mentoring, creating professional growth and development plans, and successfully conducting performance evaluations. Will ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures as well as all rules and government regulations governing the pharmaceutical industry.
- Collaborate and coordinate with internal stakeholders to inform the development of appropriate Medical Affairs and Field Medical Affairs strategies to support early stage product development objectives for as well as well as engaging KEE and establishing knowledge of therapeutic area landscape.
- Collaborate and coordinate with Clinical Development, Clinical Development Organization, Global Medical Affairs, Medical Research & Strategy, and HEOR to support therapeutic area specific product clinical research program(s) by providing investigator and study site recommendations as well as providing feedback to inform the conduct of clinical research studies and programs.
- Lead regional, national and executive level projects and initiatives through cross-functional alignment with other Medical Affairs functions and DSI departments.
- Ensure the appropriate utilization of financial and other resources required to achieve the medical objectives; and effectively manage project specific and administrative budgets for their MSL Team.
- PharmD or Ph.D. in a health sciences related field is required. MD acceptable but not a requirement.
- A minimum of 4 years Medical Science Liaison experience with 6-8 years of pharmaceutical industry experience including clinical trials, medical & scientific affairs strongly preferred
- 2 years of proven experience managing field based, doctorate level direct reports preferred.
- Oncology experience required.
- Demonstrated understanding of legal and regulatory guidelines of pharmaceutical industry
- Proven track record of strong strategic leadership, teamwork, innovation, project management and demonstrated ability to manage, lead and mentor individuals
- Viewed external to DSI as a scientific/clinical expert and key representative of the pharmaceutical industry in general, and DSI specifically.
- Capable of fully representing the Executive Director, Field Medical Affairs at DSI meetings, functions, events.
- Effective written and verbal skills; effective presentation skills
- The position requires expert, working knowledge of therapeutic areas of interest as it directly relates to the pharmaceutical business
