Job Description

Job Summary:
  • Leads the design, development and qualification of Seqirus packaging systems globally. He/she will enable Seqirus expertise within leading edge packaging technologies and streamline packaging solutions across the network ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements on the global market by developing and implementing global strategies, policies and procures.
  • Responsible for packaging design, development and execution, focusing on front end technology advancements. Provides strategic direction as it relates to emerging packaging technologies that align with and accelerate Seqirus global growth initiatives. Supports cross-functional project teams to identify and implement innovative packaging designs and processes.
  • Seqirus operates in a global network. The incumbent partners with global leadership teams within Operations, Supply Chain [Global Sourcing, Logistics and Distribution], Sterility Assurance, Quality, Regulatory, Engineering and Marketing to ensure packaging strategy is aligned across the business.
  • An important aspect of the job is innovation as well as to ensure that knowledge and learnings are shared across Sites.

Major Accountabilities:
  • Responsible for setting the global strategic direction for finished goods packaging. Influences packaging development and design in Seqirus corporate and strategic initiatives, programs and projects. Leads global end-to-end packaging development activities from concept, development, testing and commercialization. Evaluates network capability vs. commercial needs and leads the implantation of best practice across Seqirus network. Technical subject matter expert ensuring cross functional teams drive technical transfers, new product introductions, compliance initiatives and continuous improvement projects considering packaging system strategy and direction. Provides strategic direction and communications to production sites and CMOs regarding packaging technologies. Functions as technical SME at supplier audits and health authorities audits both at Seqirus sites and within the CMO network.
  • Champions advances in technology, design, equipment, process and automation to incorporate in the Seqirus packaging strategy. Defines the packaging strategy for secondary packaging platforms and custom solutions for Seqirus. Is the Business Owner who establishes requirements for manufacturing based on stakeholder input.
  • Uses broad knowledge of Seqirus and country specific requirements to communicate with the Regulatory function within Seqirus to ensure that country specific requirements are met. Leads projects to standardize packaging requirements and artwork across the globe with a focus on quality, performance and cost effectiveness.
  • Creates daily and seasonal operational plans and procedures to enable reliable and consistent execution of influenza manufacturing activities.
  • Identifies areas of risk and develops strategies to mitigate the risks. Manage the complexity of scale-up and risks associated with the introduction of technology into supply chain.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Packaging Science or related preferred, chemical/mechanical/systems engineering, chemistry, microbiology or cell engineering or other equivalent is required. Master's degree or PhD preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years' related industry experience required.
  • Knowledge and expertise with serialization, packaging equipment and technologies, and global regulatory guidances related to packaging;
  • Requires a strong knowledge of ISO-11607 standards.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of GMPs and FDA requirements
  • Strong demonstrated team leadership skills
  • Strong project management skills preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in managing complex projects and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong communication, negotiation and conflict management skills to influence technical experts and stakeholders at all levels in the organization
  • Involvement in cross-functional, multicultural and international teams
