Job Description

We are seeking an experienced, creative and motivated Senior Research Associate or Research Associate to join our growing team in Emeryville! In this role, you will contribute to the company's efforts to develop next-generation cell therapies in solid tumor malignancies.

Specifically, you will be part of a cell biology research team focused on engineering approaches to enhance CAR T anti-tumor activity in the tumor microenvironment. Are you ready to join our journey to cure cancer with cutting edge science?

The successful candidate will be expected to work in a collaborative cross-functional team environment, perform experiments, organize and analyze results, communicate effectively, and present findings in team meetings.

Responsibilities include:
  • Employ viral-based strategies for the genetic modification of T cells with chimeric antigen receptors (CARs).
  • Culture and characterize CAR T cells and cancer cell lines
  • Plan and execute in vitro functional assays according to project timelines and goals
  • Coordinate tasks across projects, demonstrating prioritization and planning
  • Effectively communicate plans and results in both oral and written form
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Experience
  • BS or MS degree in Immunology/Cell Biology or similar field
  • 2+ years industry/academic experience preferred
  • Excellent mammalian cell/tissue culture and sterile technique required
  • Experience with multi-color flow cytometry and data analysis (FACSDiva, FlowJo) required
  • T cell phenotyping and memory sub-setting a plus
  • Experience with ELISA, MSD, Luminex, or western blotting a plus
  • Experience with primary T cell-based assays (cytotoxicity assays, cell proliferation assays, cytokine secretion, etc. a plus), PCR, experience in viral gene delivery, and experience with tumor microenvironment suppressive factors a plus
  • Strong organizational skills and record-keeping
  • Self-motivated and willing to accept temporary responsibilities outside of initial job description
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced company and able to adjust workload based upon changing priorities
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are critical in this collaborative work environment
