SUMMARY:

MyoKardia is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company pioneering a precision medicine approach to discover, develop and commercialize targeted therapies for the treatment of serious and rare cardiovascular diseases. MyoKardia's initial focus is on the treatment of heritable cardiomyopathies, a group of rare, genetically driven forms of heart failure that result from biomechanical defects in cardiac muscle contraction. Mavacamten is MyoKardia's first product that is currently in late-stage development. MyoKardia's mission is to change the world for patients with serious cardiovascular disease through bold and innovative science.

As a Director, Strategic Accounts, you'll play a pivotal role in changing the lives of patients facing serious cardiovascular disease. You will be responsible for Payer relationships and creating access for MyoKardia's first commercialized product, Mavacamten. This role serves as the primary point of contact between MyoKardia and national/regional accounts representing MyoKardia's product portfolio. The Director will be responsible for achieving corporate and financial goals within assigned accounts, while building a strong corporate presence with key managed care decision makers and stakeholders. You will develop and implement account specific strategies to meet objectives for assigned national accounts This role is responsible for the activities and profitability of assigned accounts which include expertise with negotiating contracts, executing brand strategies/tactics and pulling through access at the local level. The Director, Strategic Accounts will be an essential member of the Market Access Payer Team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Drive account management strategy within targeted accounts in order to achieve MyoKardia's product goals for access
  • Work with Key Decision Makers/Influencers at accounts to ensure appropriate coverage and access.
  • Displays an outstanding overall knowledge of market access landscape and is content expert on reimbursement and first-hand account experience. Specifically, knowledgeable of pharmacy and medical benefits designs, recent legislative changes, Commercial, Medicare Part D, and Medicaid (FFS & Managed).
  • Should be familiar with and able to discuss value proposition, pharmacoeconomic models, and relevant topics for the product portfolio.
  • Conduct robust analytics using internal and external data sources to monitor performance or identify gaps/trends in performance to optimize product access.
  • Educate and inform field sales, account team and senior management of access status and/or requirements for access (i.e. PA, Step edits etc.).
  • Able to operate and collaborate with multiple internal stakeholders within the organization including Medical Affairs, HEOR, Marketing, Sales, and other Market Access colleagues.
  • Able to access account Decision Makers and/or Influencers for on-label clinical and product specific discussions.
  • Assist in placing product on formulary and help resolve any reimbursement or coverage issues either with the field or Reimbursement Colleagues.
  • Actively use company databases/platforms to monitor access and develop appropriate strategies, while maintaining up to date account information.
  • Responsible for executing on tactical implementation and pull-through that includes coordinating with field sales team.
  • Keep management updated on all key issues at account(s) in a timely manner.
  • Develop business plans for customers based on the marketplace within which they operate.
  • Be a team leader in terms of training other team members on various account issues such as value-based contracting.
  • Be willing to take on special projects that will help facilitate product access within accounts.
  • Attend all designated industry conferences and meetings as appropriate.
  • Ensures fully informed and in compliance with MyoKardia's commercial compliance policy, and all applicable federal and state laws and guidance.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college/university required. (MBA, Advanced Degrees, certifications preferred).
  • 10-15+ years of biotech/pharmaceutical commercial experience.
  • 5+ years as a National Account Director or other Payer/PBM customer facing role.
  • 5+ years of pharmaceutical sales management/leadership preferred.
  • Experience with national accounts such as CVS, Aetna, United Healthcare, OptumRx, Express-Scripts, Humana and Kaiser is preferred.


KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
  • Demonstrated C-level negotiation skills, relationship management.
  • Ability to develop and present comprehensive, strategic plans and/or proposals that helps exceed corporate objectives to the Leadership Team.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams in the execution of tactical plans resulting in the attainment of key company objectives and goals
  • Competent with PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.
  • Must be able to hit deadlines, stay organized and be self-sufficient.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
  • Demonstrated presentation and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, agile environment


JOB COMPLEXITY:

This position is a remote position. Ability to work independently in the field and travel extensively up to 70% throughout the United States for regular account visits, internal management meetings.

A Valid Driver's License is a necessity.
