Fountain Therapeutics is an early-stage drug discovery startup located in South San Francisco. We are a multidisciplinary team that combines expertise in biology, medicine, and machine learning to develop therapeutics that target the underlying cellular mechanisms of aging. 

Position Summary

We have a role for a research associate to be part of a team that designs and executes cell-based high-content phenotypic screens. This is a high impact and high responsibility role that will lead and assist in many aspects of in vivo and in vitro experimentation and animal colony management.  This role will work directly with cell biologists and computational biologists to streamline existing workflows and develop new assays for a significant scaling up of Fountain’s operations and throughput. 

Job Functions

-Lead and assist in aspects of assay design, development, execution, analysis, and quality. 

-Coordinate and manage animal colonies and animal experiments.

-Coordinate and interact with CROs and contractors.

-Oversee data collection and acquisition.

-Troubleshoot aspects of tissue dissociation, cell isolation, cell culture, treatment, staining, and imaging procedures.

-Be an active and engaged team member.

Qualifications and Skills

-Background in technical and theoretical aspects of cell biology or a related field. 

            -B.S. in Biology (or related) with 5+ years of laboratory experience.

-Laboratory and technical experience in industry or academic setting:

            -Routine animal handling and injection and colony management.

-Isolating and culturing primary cells from mouse and human tissues.

-Using FACS or MACS to purify cells.

-Performing immuno- and chemical- staining on cultured cells.

-Operating microscopy and imaging equipment (e.g. high content imager, confocal microscope).

-Maintaining lab supplies and inventories.

-Able to adapt to and shape a dynamic work environment.

-Eligible to work in the United States.

Significant plus if experience in:

-high-content cell-based screening assays and workflows.

-performing rodent survival surgery.

-coding in Python, R, or SQL.

-lab automation and robotics.
