The Amgen information technology team is seeking an Architecture Director for our Salesforce Platform team. This is a unique opportunity to help Amgen with a global Salesforce platform supporting all business functions across the enterprise. This groundbreaking team helps drive our Salesforce strategy and framework to provide enablement, adoption and technical expertise which accelerate Amgen's core business.

The Salesforce Architecture Director will lead overall architecture of systems solutions and will actively work with Enterprise Architecture and teams across all areas of the enterprise. This person will be working across Enterprise teams, R&D, Operations, Commercial, and other strategic business partners. This role will be aligned to our site in Tampa, FL or Thousand Oaks, CA and will report to the Global Director of Information Systems.

The Salesforce Architecture Director will engage with the businesses' functional leads and architects to assure robust, well-designed deployments of technology systems. This person will collaborate with Amgen's product teams during project planning and implementation to share their extensive knowledge of the Salesforce platform and product suite. Combined with their experience in technical architecture, enterprise integration, and business solution implementation, this person will drive toward the best possible business solutions that meet and exceed our customers' needs while maintaining compliance with regulatory and best practice requirements. By painting a solution vision and architecting both the system and the implementation approach, they will be able to change the status quo.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure robust, well-designed systems which are consistent with the Amgen IS city plan
  • Develop the Salesforce "City Plan" Architecture standards and practices, in alignment with the Enterprise City Plan.
  • Steward of the Salesforce Enterprise Architecture standards and practices across the organization.
  • Work with teams to ensure alignment in design standards on proposals that are submitted for review by the Enterprise Architecture Review Board
  • Partner with the Enterprise Architecture team to refine and develop the Amgen IS City Plan, ensuring operations and manufacturing priorities and business needs are considered.
  • Provide vision, architectural insight, testing and mentorship for introducing new Salesforce technology to the enterprise
  • Train staff in architectural design principles applicable and new Salesforce technologies being introduced into Amgen
  • Develop a deep understanding of the business needs, processes, environment and deployed system landscapes
  • Understand how to work with, and empower technical and non-technical teams to achieve Salesforce and employee and patient experience business objectives in a technically sound manner
  • Contribute to a program vision while leading and articulating program/project strategies on enabling technologies
  • Offer mentorship on application and integration development standard methodologies, Enterprise Architecture standards, functional and technical solution architecture and design, environment management, testing, and Platform education
  • Drive the creation of application and technical design standards which use standard methodologies and successfully integrate Salesforce into Amgen's infrastructure
  • Resolve key product team implementation issues and demonstrate ability to seek to successful resolution.
  • Own the review of business and technical requirements from a senior level
  • Review releases and roadmaps from Salesforce and evaluate the impacts to current applications, organizations, and solutions
  • Identification and pro-active management of risk areas and dedication to seeing an issue through to complete resolution
  • Promote solutions to sophisticated problems with both the product teams and third-party service providers
  • Form relationships and work with product teams; contribute to broader goals and growth beyond the scope of a single current project

 


Basic Qualifications

Doctorate degree and 4 years of Information Systems experience

OR

Master's degree and 8 years of Information Systems experience

OR

Bachelor's degree and 10 years of Information Systems experience

Preferred Qualifications

 

 

  • Extensive hands-on technical and solution implementation experience with the Salesforce Lightning Platform, Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Einstein, and demonstrating positions of growing responsibility and management/mentoring of more junior technical resources
  • Experience with a multi-tenant Salesforce org design and strategy
  • Prior exposure to org consolidation and migration initiatives
  • Experience performing org assessments
  • Ability to develop custom configured, Visualforce and Lightning applications on the platform.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the capabilities and features of Salesforce Core Platform, Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, and Einstein.
  • Demonstrable ability to analyze, design, and optimize business processes via technology and integration, including leadership in guiding customers and colleagues in rationalizing and deploying emerging technology for business use cases
  • Possesses a detailed understanding of web services, data modeling, and enterprise application integration concepts, including experience with enterprise integration tools (ESBs and/or ETL tools), and common integration design patterns with enterprise systems (e.g. CMS, ERP, HRIS, DWH/DM)
  • Demonstrably excellent, context-specific and adaptive communication and presentation skills across a variety of audiences and situations
  • Established habit of proactive thinking and behavior and the desire to self-star, learn, and apply new technologies
  • Salesforce Admin, Advanced Admin, Platform Builder required; Salesforce Certified Technical Architect a plus.
  • Salesforce Health Cloud experience
  • Quip, MuleSoft, Tableau, myTrailhead, B2B Commerce experience
  • CICD and Backup and Restore Solution
  • Technical expertise of biotechnology information systems and associated technology
  • Demonstrated ability to architect sophisticated IS systems
  • Deep grasp of the requirements for robust well-designed IS and business systems
  • Experience guiding solution design, business processes redesign and software implementation in a drug development lab / commercialization environment
  • Thrives in an enterprise environment and producing solutions in a validated and non-validated state
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and establish adoption model for new technology
  • Ability to run inexpensive proof of concepts to establish critical technical understandings
  • Ability to lead technical staff
  • Ability to deal with complexity and ambiguity, ability to see the big picture, ability to collect, digest and assemble information to enable relevant business analyses and facilitate decision-making
