As the business owner within Commercial Operations, the incumbent will lead the definition of functional requirements for Commercial Data Warehousing and Data Quality and manage the functions assigned to them. They will partner with the Avanir IT team to build the Commercial data strategies and ensure that these are communicated, aligned and executed with excellence. They will also be the business functional owner responsible for Commercial data quality and will take the lead for Commercial data governance, partnering with Avanir IT and other functional areas as needed to ensure that Avanir's Commercial data needs are met. They will also provide training and mentoring to the team of Commercial data analysts, ensuring that business and compliance commitments are met.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Responsible for the business functional ownership of Commercial data quality and operational execution of the Commercial Data Warehouse in partnership with the technical system owner (Avanir IT)
  • Analyze existing usage of Commercial data, understand business requirements and develop future state data validation and data quality processes
  • Create and maintain commercial data standards, lineage and attribute mapping from data sources
  • Conduct data analysis to determine data availability and quality for purposes of Commercial reporting requirements
  • Partner with Avanir IT to define the logical and dimensional Commercial data model
  • Build and maintain a Commercial Data Dictionary
  • Manage acquisition and partner with Avanir IT to ensure integration of commercial data sources (claims, prescriptions, digital data, marketing data, field interactions, etc.) into the Commercial Data Warehouse Collaborate with appropriate cross-functional business partners and Avanir IT to ensure data quality and integrity of various sources
  • Oversee research of data inquiries generated by field sales and/or other Commercial business partners; identify underlying issues and provide resolution
  • Educate other Commercial team members on the Commercial Data Model and address questions as needed
  • Multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment with deadlines
  • Work independently

Education/ Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or related field or equivalent experience in an aligned business discipline is required.
  • Minimum of combined 14 years of experience in good to excellent understanding of Commercial Data Warehouse concepts and delivering Business Insights and data solutions to end users in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Working knowledge of common data sets (ex., Hub/Patient Services, Specialty Pharmacy, Distributor, 3PL, Pharmacy & Medical Claims, etc.) and Commercial reporting requirements in a biotech/pharmaceutical industry
  • Demonstrated experience participating in and/or leading cross-functional data governance processes
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in data management, commercial operations and commercial analytics
  • Strong understanding of data management best practices in areas such as metadata management, data quality management, root cause analysis, process design and master and reference data management
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-starter who takes initiative to get tasks done
  • Proficient in Microsoft products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Physical Requirements:

This position primarily works in an office environment. It requires the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time and frequent walking. Daily use of a computer, phone, office equipment and other computing and digital devices is required. May be required to stand for extended periods when facilitating meetings or walking in the facilities. Some local travel may be necessary, so the ability to travel by plane, operate a motor vehicle and maintain a valid Driver's license and/or effectively navigate public transportation is required. While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee must be able to read and respond to interoffice communications as well as effectively participate in meetings. The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers, to lift up to 20 lbs., pull, push, carry, handle or feel. The employee is required to carry, handle items, reach with arms and hands, to stoop, kneel, or crouch; talk or hear. Mental demands may require prolonged concentration, reading comprehension, understanding and interpretation of concepts, ideas and philosophies.
