Job Summary:

The Senior Director/Director, Medical Affairs, is a multi-faceted, versatile, customer-centric, and experienced medical affairs professional with oncology expertise. The ideal candidate will have experience working across several groups in medical affairs. Areas of focus of the role include driving external engagement strategy across various stakeholders including Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), Community Healthcare Providers (HCPs), Patient Advocacy Groups, and Professional Societies. Additionally, this individual will have demonstrated proficiency in developing and implementing impactful externally facing scientific communications.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Build strategic relationships with KOLs (Key Opinion Leaders) and community HCPs (Healthcare Providers) to support their development as trialists and advocates of Arcus oncology pipeline assets
  • Drive development and execution of advisory engagements with KOLs and community HCPs across tumor types
  • Collaborate with the PDTLs (Project Development Team Leads) and the Commercial team to ensure advisory engagements are addressing Arcus business and external stakeholder needs
  • Develop partnerships with patient advocacy groups across priority cancer types toward increasing awareness of Arcus Biosciences and supporting patient enrollment onto priority trials
  • Build relationships with oncology professional societies (i.e. NCCN, ASCO, SITC) and networks (i.e. US Oncology, ION) to heighten awareness of Arcus oncology pipeline
  • Coordinate and lead medical congress strategy planning and execution for the cross-functional team
  • Support the creation of external scientific communications inclusive of Arcus pipeline digital mechanism of action assets
  • Present key deliverables (i.e. external engagement plan, congress strategy) to Arcus R&D leadership and broader Arcus leadership


Qualifications (including knowledge & skills):
  • Bachelors, Masters or Advanced (i.e. MD, PharmD, PhD) degree in a life-sciences discipline plus 10-15+ years progressive experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, including 7-10+ years of diverse Medical Affairs experience(s); Advanced degree preferred
  • Oncology (solid tumor or hematologic malignancies) clinical, research, or medical communications experience required
  • Proven ability to build strong strategic relationships with external stakeholders including Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), Patient Advocacy Groups (PAGs), and Professional Societies
  • Demonstrated track record of successfully developing impactful externally facing scientific communications and messages
  • An ability to think medically and strategically about the short- and long-term impacts within the US oncology health care landscape
  • Launch experience within Oncology or Hematology preferred
  • Experience working in a matrix environment with other functional groups (e.g. Regulatory, Clinical Development, Clinical Operations, Commercial) where consensus across multiple opinions and good working relationships are important
  • Analytical thinker with excellent problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
