Our mission:

Developing curative genome editing treatments that can positively transform the lives of people living with severe and life-threatening diseases.

At Intellia, we are committed to solving the complex challenges of making CRISPR/Cas9-based medicines a reality for patients suffering from genetic diseases and to create novel engineered cell therapies for immuno-oncological and autoimmune diseases.

Intellia is hiring a Senior Scientist in the Translational Immunology group to enable our immuno-oncology programs utilizing CRISPR gene editing. This Senior Scientist will bring their expertise in applying cutting edge translational approaches for immuno-profiling of preclinical models and human patient samples. The successful candidate will have a strong background in immuno-oncology and immune assay development with a demonstrated ability to design, execute, troubleshoot, and interpret experiments independently. This candidate will have expertise in advanced molecular techniques such as single cell RNAseq and TCR sequencing, multi-color flow cytometry, and cell-based immunological assays. Previous experience working on IO cell therapies is highly desired. Intellia is a cross-functional team first organization, as such experience working well in teams in an industry setting is key.

    • Responsible for hands on translational immunology research with internal and external collaborators for biomarker discovery and tumor microenvironment assessment
    • Independently design, execute, and interpret critical experiments to answer key translational questions to help us enrich for clinical response
    • Carry out efforts to characterize immune cell populations from peripheral blood and tissue by developing and implementing novel immunological assays
    • Execute molecular profiling of human samples through cutting edge technologies to design, develop and perform immunological assays
    • Design and execute drug combination studies in preclinical models
    • Collaborate with both internal research teams, external CROs, and academic groups to advance translational immunology capabilities

    • Position will be hired based on level of experience. MS or PhD in Immunology, Cell Biology, or related field with typically 8+ (MS), or 5+ (PhD) years of relevant experience
    • Demonstrated expertise in translational approaches to applying immunotherapies in cancer is highly desired
    • Biomarker discovery experience and immuno-assay development is key
    • The successful candidate will have experience with immuno-phenotyping by multi-dimensional flow cytometry, single cell RNAseq, Nanostring, and other leading-edge technologies
    • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (both written and oral)

    • Hands-on experience in phenotypic and functional assays of primary human immune cells
    • Strong experience in biomarker discovery as it relates to model selection, designing and conducting in vivo studies to evaluate biomarker hypotheses is critical
    • Hands on in vivo (blood/tissue collection) and ex vivo experience (multicolor flow cytometry, cytokine analysis) is required
    • Demonstrated experience with innovative assay development and proven ability to effectively troubleshoot and solve complex problems.
    • Proficient in analysis, presentation and documentation of scientific data as well as preparation of reports is required
    • Experience in contributions to relevant sections of study reports for IND filings is preferred
    • Work productively in a team environment and independently to deliver against timelines.

What Intellia Stands For:

We push boundaries. We are focused on positively disrupting health care treatment of patients with genomic diseases. The values we live by and drivers we look for are:

- One is respect for individuals; our unique qualities and strengths; our own ways to understand, learn and improve. One is our single-minded determination to excel; to succeed together. One is you and us - trusting and counting on every single one of us.

- Explore because we seek new ways to tackle disease. Explore with unbounded from assumptions, open to ideas. Explore by staying curious, by pushing boundaries, overcoming obstacles. Explore means thinking of new ways.

- Disrupt by thinking courageously...and creating a better future. Disrupt by defying conformity; interrogating the status quo; questioning our momentum. Disrupt with challenging thoughts...with that breed of skepticism that shows you have better solutions.

- Deliver with your focus on the objective and your determination to complete the task. Deliver by advancing relentlessly and by maintaining high standards...even when nobody is watching. Deliver by staying accountable and pulling your weight. Deliver because patients are counting on us to make the promise reality. Get it done.
