GENERAL SUMMARY

This senior-level communications leadership position will be responsible for helping the CSL Plasma business achieve its strategic goals by building, protecting and defending the business' brand and reputation among stakeholders. This role collaborates with business senior leadership, HR and the global Corporate Affairs & Communications team on leading the development and execution of business-wide communications strategies and plans. While focused on meeting business communications needs, the incumbent also actively seeks collaboration to coordinate, leverage and integrate as part of one integrated global Corporate Affairs & Communications function and its Strategic Objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • The role will require strategic business communications expertise and demonstrated strong leadership and collaboration skills in a matrixed, global organization.
  • This position is a key, prominent role, carrying with it great visibility both within and outside the business and is responsible for formulating and implementing compelling communications and brand initiatives and engagement platforms that extend industry market leadership, support business/growth, respond/neutralize competitive challenges and guide issues and crisis management.
  • Ensuring one, coordinated external and employee communications strategy and execution plan aligned with CSL Plasma business priorities. The leader will be responsible for ensuring all CSL Plasma external and employee communications are coordinated and resources are leveraged at all business locations.
  • Partners with CSL Plasma senior leaders to understand their priorities and develops and executes strategic, compelling and differentiated Communications and brand programs that deliver on CSL Plasma and CSL Group Communications objectives.
  • The incumbent must have demonstrated skills to think strategically and globally and be a strong, trusted counselor to senior leaders and who can deliver measurable results.
  • Lead all employee and external communications efforts for the CSL Plasma business, including: media relations, public relations, employee & leadership communications and Centers-based community engagement through communications.
  • Serves as primary communications counselor to the SVP and General Manager of CSL Plasma and the Plasma Leadership Team.
  • Active, participating member of the CSL Group global Communications Leadership Team.
  • Responsible for CSL Plasma Communications budget oversight, and development of Communications and brand initiatives that support broader CSL Plasma and CSL Group goals.
  • Possesses exceptional writing, editing and verbal skillsets and can strengthen the team's capabilities.
  • Develops and executes CSL Plasma employees and leadership communications plan.
  • Develops and executes CSL Plasma external stakeholder communications outreach plan
  • Develops and executes strategic communications plans and processes in support of CSL Plasma collection centers.
  • Ensures CSL Plasma communications strategy/execution aligns and contributes to CSL Group Communications strategy, brand and objectives.
  • Serves as strategic communications lead on annual events and programming designed to tell our story
  • Ensures business and company brand positioning is reflective in content for both external and employee audiences. Goal is to increase CSL favorable brand awareness.
  • Optimizes and leverages CSL Group Communications' Centers of Excellence capabilities to deliver business objectives.
  • Represents the CSL Group on PPTA Communications & Media Committee.
  • Identifies and analyzes business and audience needs to deliver messages via the most appropriate mix vehicle.
  • Possesses strong, established relationships with relevant external stakeholders, including key journalists/media outlets, thought leaders, influencers, etc.
  • Manages third-party communications agencies in support of business objectives. Includes leading agency selection, ensuring the business and company's global brand positioning are integrated and reflective in communications and on-boarding agencies.
  • Provides issues and crisis management that may impact the business and/or the company's reputation.
  • Leads CSL Plasma content generation (by researching, writing, editing, leading approvals) and deliverables (such as news releases, feature stories, videos, news briefs, Q&As, website content and callouts.)
  • Serves as primary news media spokesperson on behalf of CSL Plasma.
  • Understands leadership communication goals and leads content creation and delivery for employee communications channels and vehicles. This includes leadership communication, multi-media channels, newsletters, webcast/podcast, videos, meetings and presentations.
  • Focus on actively collaborating with key internal stakeholders particularly with CSL Plasma senior leaders and Global Communications Leadership Team - on the development and implementation of content generation strategies and plans to achieve business objectives.
  • Champion best practices & execute across team through consistent engagement as key leader within global CSL Group Communications team.


JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism/public relations or closely related field that develops written, verbal and communications skills. Advanced, progressive professional development training is ideal


Experience
  • The successful candidate will be a proven leader who is energetic and thrives in a fast-paced, growing organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to be effective in a highly-matrixed, global organization.
  • 12+ years of progressive experience in private and/or public sector communications including external and employee communications is required.
  • Exceptional writing and listening skills and 5+ digital/multi-media content creation communications experience are mandatory.
  • Applied science/R&D/consumer communications experience of 5+ years is required.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with senior leadership, leading people and influencing stakeholders in matrixed organization is highly desirable.
  • Proven capabilities to be a strategist who can also provide tactical execution
  • Bi-lingual in English and Spanish preferred

  • Overnight travel required up to 10% of the time
  • Fast paced environment with frequent interruptions
