SUMMARY: Primary responsibilities include maintaining the accuracy of the research compound inventory, fulfilling orders placed through the compound sample ordering application in support of the drug discovery effort, performing quality control of the compound inventory storage environment, and maintaining the general chemistry laboratory bulk solvents and consumable stockrooms.

  • Receive and process all compound samples from both internal and external sources to be added to the compound inventory, including packaging/unpackaging, labelling, sorting, proper storage, and uploading to the inventory database
  • Manage, maintain, process using inventory management software, and dispense all compound requests to support drug discovery research programs, including weighing solid samples, creating stock solutions, plating liquid sample requests, and preparing samples for shipping
  • Accountable for meeting timelines for compound requests and collaborating with chemists and other scientists to meet any compound request requirements
  • Follow all established Compound Management Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) to maintain the accuracy of the research compound inventory
  • Maintains adequate supplies of all common chemistry stockroom consumable items and bulk solvents
  • Maintains and ensures that all Compound Management laboratory equipment are in proper working order and properly maintained
  • Implements automation were appropriate to improve workflow and productivity
  • Provide back up support and execution of the weekly tier1 assays for Kinetic Solubility and eLogD experiments


  • BS/MS Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline

  • Minimum of three to five years of related experience and/or combination of experience and education/training
  • Hands-on knowledge of activities related to compound management processes, with an excellent understanding of inventory management, weighing solid samples, solution preparation, quality control methods, logistics management, and service-oriented practices
  • Experience with compound registration and other compound management related informatics platforms
  • Experience in handling hazardous materials

  • Familiarity with basic research laboratory techniques and biochemical assays
  • Good multi-tasking, organizational, record keeping, communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary, team-oriented, collaborative, high performance environment
  • Experience with word processing, spreadsheets, data analysis and scientific software is preferred
