Research Scientist I-II

Summary

Courier Therapeutics is a well-funded early-stage biotechnology company that is developing breakthrough protein therapeutics for cancer. The Company has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated research scientist to join our laboratory in the BioPark incubator facility on the University of Maryland School of Medicine campus in Baltimore, MD.

Responsibilities

We are seeking a Ph.D. level cancer biologist/immunologist who is capable of developing and implementing biochemical, cell-based and in vivo bio-assays to validate therapeutic candidate molecules. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in cancer biology and immunology and at least 2 years of industry experience in these fields.

Job Requirements

A demonstrated record of expertise in:

  • In vitro and in vivo cellular immunology assays, especially flow cytometry, ELISA, complete and differential blood cell counts, autoimmune assays, cancer cell survival and signaling assays, and general molecular biology techniques
  • Compiling, analyzing, displaying and interpreting research data using relevant software applications
  • Administering day-to-day laboratory operations, including compliance with all safety regulations, ordering of supplies and maintenance of research equipment
  • Some experience in protein engineering would be advantageous but not an absolute requirement

Supervisor and employee will collaborate to develop goals and outline experimental plans, but the successful candidate will be comfortable with a high degree of independence.  Stringent record-keeping and attention to detail are of paramount importance.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

This is a research position that requires working in a laboratory environment with hazardous chemicals and potential biohazards such as human blood products. Knowledge of relevant safety procedures is required, as is strict adherence to use of protective clothing, gloves and safety glasses while working in the lab. This position requires the ability to lift containers or instruments (up to 25 pounds) and to work standing at a lab bench for extended periods of time.  The job also requires small animal murine work as well as in vitro human and non-human primate assays.

Company Benefits

Job title and pay range are commensurate with experience. We offer highly competitive salary and benefits, and successful candidates will have an integral role in building the Company and contributing to the development of breakthrough therapeutics for serious unmet medical conditions. Courier Therapeutics is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
