ABOUT THE POSITION:

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the launch of a new product in Canada. This role will report into the Director, Sales & Marketing, Pharmaceuticals and will act as the overall marketing lead for a new OTC product in development and a current pharma product, including brand planning, brand tactics, health care professional targeting, and product forecasting in collaboration with Global Marketing, Finance and Pipeline Planning groups. This is a great opportunity to also expand into other areas and project work to support the growing Canadian business.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND KEY DELIVERABLES:
  • Collaborate with Global Medical Affairs and Global Marketing to develop strategic messages and materials that resonate with the health care professional (HCP) and patient communities
  • Create HCP educational materials, including sales aids, disease education materials, product websites and videos
  • Develop and implement sales training program in collaboration with Global Medical Affairs
  • Test messages and materials with physicians and other key stakeholders, in market research, at advisory boards, and in 1:1 meetings, to ensure that materials are relevant, informative, and communicate key information about the product
  • Execute promotional strategy for conferences, which will include the booth development in collaboration with cross-functional teams
  • Refine brand positioning based on market research, competitor activity, and clinical data
  • Develop and execute disease awareness campaign
  • Develop and localize brand campaign, in collaboration with the Global Marketing Group
  • Plan market research and competitor insight activities to understand position in market and ensure differentiated and sustainable brand position; recommend changes to marketing approach based on learnings from research
  • Drive collaboration across the organization to set agenda and objectives for marketing and sales meetings, including launch meeting(s)
  • Collaborate with Corporate Communications to develop plan for internal communication of brand goals and objectives
  • Product sales forecasting in partnership with finance
  • Support Director, Sales & Marketing in development of incentive compensation plans for field force
  • Partner with supply chain management in maintaining appropriate product inventory levels at 3PL
  • Support Director of Sales & Marketing in coordination and management of key account management partner
  • Act as back up for the Director, Sales & Marketing as needed, providing the commercial perspective on a variety of cross-functional teams
  • Ensure that all activities are executed in accordance with internal Santen policies and adhere to Canadian legal and compliance parameters
  • Represent materials at Promotional Review Committee (PRC) and obtain approval from that group
  • Management of partner agencies and deliver projects within assigned budget and timelines
  • Support sales force and Medical Affairs as required in the execution of programs/materials and KOL development
  • Proven track record in developing and implementing digital and remote strategies
  • Attend and support sales force at conferences
  • Domestic and some international travel will be required
  • Other projects that arise on an as-needed basis to support the Canadian commercial organization

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in business administration, life sciences, nursing, or related field.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of previous relevant industry experience, including experience in product management in biotech or specialty pharma
  • Specialty pharma or biotech sales experience required
  • Demonstrated success in all aspects of marketing to include but not limited to: positioning, product development & commercialization, pricing, packaging, training, promotion, etc.
  • Strong analytical skills used to drive decision-making; proven experience building a business case using market and sales data and financial forecast statistics.
  • Previous market planning experience, including market research planning and execution, and forecast development, is desirable
  • Ophthalmology experience is strongly preferred
  • Biotech or pharma launch experience is strongly preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively work with a culturally diverse group of people
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross-functionally and ensure that the needs of key stakeholders are satisfied
  • Proven track record of being able to flex easily between hands on contribution and leadership responsibility
  • Strong oral, written and presentation skills to effectively communicate with and influence a diverse cross-functional team
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to effectively juggle multiple issues at the same time, combined with effective time management skills to ensure on-time delivery of products
  • French is an asset
