Job Description

The in vivo pharmacology group is seeking an experienced and motivated Research Associate to join the growing team in Kite Emeryville. The candidate will join an established group, playing a key role in generating in vivo data in support of multiple programs utilizing engineered human T cells with chimeric antigen receptors (CARs).

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
  • Perform in vivo studies to evaluate the efficacy of engineered T cells in mouse tumor models.
  • Establish tumor models through SQ or IV inoculation, administer T cells IV, and dose mice with multiple agents IP or PO.
  • Monitor in-life study measurements (tumor volume/burden, body weight), and enter data in associated software programs.
  • Willing to split limited weekend and holiday hours with peers on a rotational basis.


Key Requirements:
  • BS or MS degree in science related field
  • Minimum of 1-5 years of directly related experience with mouse tumor models.
  • Experience with tumor cell implantation, measurement of subcutaneous tumor volume, survival and terminal blood draws, necropsy, and tissue collection.
  • Experience with measurement of the disseminated tumor through in vivo imaging of bioluminescence is a plus.
  • Expert in vivo skills including animal handling and experience with the administration in mice by IV is highly valuable; experience with additional routes (PO, IP) is desired.
  • In vitro cell culture experience is also a plus.
  • Experience in Data analysis software including, Excel, StudyLog, and Prizm
  • Demonstrated ability to independently conduct studies while working efficiently as part of a team.
  • Ability to multi-task, perform work with a high degree of attention to detail, and be part of an exciting fast-paced scientific environment.
  • Understands and implements the study protocol in accordance with regulatory requirements to remain compliant with IACUC/AAALC guidelines.
