Overall Description:

Arcus Biosciences is seeking a Clinical Contracts Specialist to complement our Contracts & Outsourcing team within Clinical Operations. Ideal candidate will have a demonstrated track record of success in managing contracts and budgets collaboratively within a matrix environment with other cross functional groups. This position will report to the Sr. Manager, Clinical Contracts and Outsourcing.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Day-to-day duties and responsibilities of the Clinical Contracts Specialist may vary depending on the size and complexity of the project. General responsibilities in this role include:
  • Drafting, reviewing, , negotiating and executing various contracts covering a range of transactions.
  • Creating and maintaining relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Maintaining correspondence and documentation related to contracts.
  • Communicating and presenting information to stakeholders regarding contracts.
  • Problem-solving contract-related issues. Must be able to identify risk associated with contract terms.
  • Ensures contract budgets and contract related documentation adhere to company policy and practice. Ensure compliance with the company's standards and procedures.
  • Responsible for maintaining a large contract portfolio across assigned projects and functional areas. Functional assignment may include contract management for consultants.
  • Coordinates with and seeks advisement from subject matter experts and other functional areas to ensure appropriate contract language for specific research projects.
  • Assists with and/or develops standardized study-specific budgets to be included with contract templates.
  • Enters contracts and correspondences into Arcus electronic contracts and purchase order systems.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of internal contracting policies and procedures.
  • Generates ad hoc reports, participates on special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • BA/BS degree.
  • Paralegal certificate helpful but not required.
  • Minimum 3 years of work experience actively reviewing and/or negotiating contracts.
  • Experience in applying organizational standards when requesting and evaluating requests for proposals (RFPs).
  • Previous experience in biotech/pharmaceutical industry preferred but not required. Experience working for a Contract Research Organization (CRO), clinical site, or law firm experience also a plus.

Skills/Abilities:
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office Suite (especially, Word and Excel) and database applications.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication in English.
  • Self-starter with a demonstrated ability to achieve results as part of an effective team.
  • Ability to multi-task and self-prioritize work.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a high-pressure, complex environment.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to pay close attention to detail.
  • Deep understanding of contracts, contract governance, contractual language and the contract lifecycle.
  • Excellent understanding of the industry, services, and providers.
  • Ability to ready, analyze and interpret budgets and technical documents.
  • Basic understand of purchasing and support chain procedures.
  • Exercises discretion and good judgment while handling confidential and sensitive information.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
