Biological Research Scientist, Irvine, CA

YOU WILL: The successful candidate will contribute to projects aimed at the identification of novel therapeutic strategies for ocular diseases. You will be required to conceive, design and implement pre-clinical in vivo pharmacology models to characterize potential therapeutic targets and evaluate drug candidates, as well as employ a range of biochemical and cell-based techniques. Experience in the fields of ophthalmology, vision research or in drug development an asset. The successful candidate will collaborate extensively with other Research Scientists and Associates, while taking personal responsibility for success of assigned tasks and projects. You will be a highly motivated, hands-on experimentalist who thrives in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. Emphasis is on the ability to successfully perform experiments with minimal supervision and interact effectively in a team environment.

• Pharmacological studies using in vitro models
• Translational/ Pharmacological studies in in vivo models
• Data analysis and interpretation
• Scientific presentations/ collaborations and personal development

Qualifications

YOU BRING:

• Bachelor's degree required

• Minimum 5 years industry experience
• Experience with development and implementation of in vivo models and in vitro assays required
• Some biochemistry and molecular biology experience required
• Experience with small animal handling required, including dosing, surgery and imaging
• Experience in the fields of ophthalmology, vision research or in drug development desired
