The Director, International Tax Operations is responsible for U.S. international tax compliance and tax accounting related obligations. In addition, the Director will provide support for U.S. international tax planning and tax controversy as well as other special projects as required. This key leadership role will partner closely within Corporate Tax and with other cross functional teams and will have responsibility for managing and developing staff within the international tax operations team.

Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Manage the quarterly and year-end accounting for income tax processes (ASC 740) for the international tax components that impact effective tax rate and other international tax financial reporting obligations
  • Assist with the oversight and review of quarterly and annual International tax reporting packages
  • Prepare/review quarterly and year-end analysis for indefinite reinvestment assertions (APB23) and update documentation
  • Review quarterly and annual US international (foreign rate differential, subpart F, GILTI, foreign tax credit) calculations for inclusion into the global effective tax rate calculation
  • Review Forms 5471, 8858 and 8865, and 1118
  • Oversee supporting calculations and documentation of earnings and profits pools, tax pools, PTEP, and US tax basis for foreign subsidiaries and/or branches
  • Prepare/review required elections and disclosures such as check-the-box elections, DCLs, etc.
  • Monitor and analyze final and proposed tax legislation
  • Assist with US-outbound tax planning support for international operations including repatriation strategies, foreign tax credit optimization and local country tax planning opportunities
  • Ensure all US international tax policies and positions are analyzed and documented
  • Assist in tax controversy matters
  • Assist with oversight of global compliance and advise local teams on reporting issues as needed
  • Drive operational excellence and continuous improvement in the international tax reporting environment
  • Support process improvement initiatives and tax technology implementations to increase overall efficiency of the international tax process
  • Ensure internal control processes over the US international tax function are properly performed and documented
  • Train, mentor and develop international tax direct reports and other team members

Qualifications

Basic:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in accounting or finance; Masters in Taxation and/or CPA preferred
  • 12-15 years of progressive US international tax experience in Big 4 public accounting and/or publicly held multinational company
  • Significant experience in financial reporting and domestic compliance for US international tax matters, including Subpart F, GILTI, foreign tax credits, and repatriation of foreign earnings
  • Strong project management skills
  • Ability to collaborate as part of a team
  • People management experience
  • Resourcefulness and adaptability; self-motivated with ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills
  • Ability to explain complex tax concepts to non-tax stakeholders
  • Proficiency with Excel; experience with CorpTax and SAP a plus
