Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Manager or Senior Manager (depending on experience) to lead our growing vivarium operation which conducts preclinical in vivo pharmacology studies in support of Kite's cell therapy research. The Vivarium Manager is responsible for all aspects of our vivarium, including facility operations, staff supervision and training.

Responsibilities and duties include, but not limited to:
  • Manage all core vivarium operational activities, including animal husbandry.
  • Supervise training and documentation for vivarium staff and serve as technical resource for in vivo procedures.
  • Responsible for procurement of vivarium-related items including purchase and receipt of rodents, cages, feed and other items necessary for day-to-day operations.
  • Develop and maintain vivarium SOPs, policies and guidelines in compliance with animal care and use protocol, IACUC, and AAALAC guidance.
  • Participate as member of the IACUC; ensure vivarium readiness for IACUC and AAALAC inspections.
  • Ensure vivarium environmental conditions and animal usage are monitored, recorded and in compliance with protocols and guidance.
  • Coordinate with in vivo pharmacology team to help plan and schedule studies, ensuring that resources and staff are in place.
Requirements:
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Biological Sciences or related field, with a minimum 10 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Extensive experience working with normal and immune-deficient mice, developing and utilizing mouse models in oncology drug discovery, and associated in vivo procedures.
  • Prior experience in a supervisory role, as well as vivarium management experience.
  • Prior participation on an IACUC committee and familiarity working with AAALAC guidelines is highly valuable.
