The New Chemical Entity Drug Product Development Analytical Group is responsible for developing and validating analytical methodologies for both active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) and drug product to enable clinical trials and drug product development for AbbVie's clinical candidates. We are responsible for Chemistry Manufacturing Controls (CMC) support from first-in-human trials through NDA/MAA application. Our laboratories operate under Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) to enable release of materials for clinical studies.

AbbVie is seeking a Senior Scientist I/II, Analytical Chemistry to conduct analytical research and development in support of pre-phase I development to market authorization.

Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Responsible for method development, testing procedures, and implementation of analytical controls to help the advancement of new molecular entities (NME's).
  • Applying analytical separation and detection modes for complex impurity profiling/identification to further understand degradation pathways.
  • Leading the analytical aspects of a project while jointly working with other functional areas to advance NME's through the pipeline.
  • Implement a wide range of current analytical techniques to conduct research and development studies related to drug product development
  • Support new product development with advanced methods development and validations, technical transfer packages, and generation of technical data and reports in support of clinical NME regulatory requirements in a cGMP environment.
  • Perform routine and non-routine testing of development, release, and stability samples.


Qualifications

Basic:
  • BS, MS, or Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry or relevant discipline and 10-12 (BS), 8-10 (MS), or 0-4 (PhD) years of experience.
  • Proficiency with analytical techniques, e.g., HPLC, GC, spectroscopic techniques, and mass spectrometry.
  • Candidate must possess a solid fundamental background in separation theory.
  • Candidate must possess outstanding oral and written communication skills
  • This position requires an individual who is self-motivated, hard-working, detail-oriented and able to work in a fast-paced team environment with demonstrated problem solving skills.
