The Rheumatology Regional Marketing Manager (RMM) is responsible for identifying untapped local area business opportunities while ensuring strategic alignment to HUMIRA and RINVOQ's US commercial objectives. Additionally, the RMM develops, implements, and maintains accountability for interactions and feedback with Rheumatology External Experts.

The territory will cover the Western region of the United States

Key responsibilities:
  • Responsible for understanding a specific geographical area's market drivers, competitive landscape, and provider dynamics
  • Provides input into marketing strategy, resource optimization, and tactic development
  • Acting as a conduit between sales and marketing in order to effectively bridge the communication and business gaps.
  • Assess resource impact via field level intelligence
  • Ensures the highest level of satisfaction is maintained with the External Experts for which we engage
  • Identifies future External Experts in the Region and cultivates Marketing relationship
  • Marketing lead for key accounts and institutions in the Region
  • Marketing lead for field competitive intelligence for the assigned region
  • Lead externally facing activities with External Experts and Advocacy groups, including interactions at medical meetings and conferences
  • Tactical focus includes but is not limited to: development of emerging leaders in rheumatology, management of speaker bureau activities and development of innovative peer-to-peer programs
  • Works to develop customized regional marketing mix analysis to ensure optimized tactical execution throughout the year to drive key business initiatives as measured by key performance indicators
  • Partners with Regional Manager and Marketing Director to identify key Marketing opportunities/projects within the region
  • Coordinate the work of multiple external vendors and internal departments including Agency Partners, Marketing, Market Research, Legal, Regulatory, Medical Affairs, Corporate Compliance, Consumer Marketing and IT
  • Lead projects compliantly and effectively through the promotional review process to deliver high-quality work in a timely fashion (meets deadlines). Ensures that regulatory guidelines are followed
  • Effectively partner with the Regional Manager to manage Regional program budgets


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 2+ years of relevant brand sales and/or marketing experience
  • Strategic and tactical planning experience
  • Agency/vendor management experience
  • Quick learner and ability to deal with ambiguity/ limited data
  • Must be a self-starter and work well independently as well as in a team setting
  • Deep understanding of salesforce needs and ability to communicate with and pull through marketing initiatives to the sales force
  • Demonstrated ability to understand medical/clinical aspects of a pharmaceutical product and its application to marketing strategy and tactical execution
  • Experience deriving insights from the analysis of quantitative and qualitative market research and data
  • Strong written and interpersonal skills and ability to work cross-functionally to support brand objectives

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Sales and/or sales management experience
  • Patient Services experience

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • 5+ years of sales, sales management, or marketing experience with at least 2 years within Immunology
  • Experience with HCP related activities required. Knowledge of marketing concepts within strategic planning process preferred.
  • Efficient project management and communication capabilities along with strong analytical and strategic thinking skills
  • Strong collaboration and team orientation, with experience accomplishing results through others and influencing others.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • MBA preferred
  • Previous Rheumatology Sales/Marketing experience preferred.
  • Willingness and ability to move to AbbVie HQ for development opportunities within 2 years (not required, but preferred)

Accountability/Scope:
  • Reporting to the HCP Associate Marketing Director
  • Execution of Goal Plan, AbbVie Ways of Working with associated Leadership Attributes
  • Travel up to 60% of the time. Position can be regionally based, but requires ~1 week/quarter at AbbVie HQ/Chicago.
