Position Description/Job Responsibilities:

The Associate Director, Strategy & Operations Lead role supports the Executive Director of WW Field Medical Excellence in driving the strategy for FM aligned with the WW Medical plan to enable FM readiness, effective and compliant execution, to deliver advanced medical & soft skills training to enhance scientific engagement, and synthesize insights to shape medical strategy and tactical execution. The Strategy & Operations Lead will leverage capabilities and expertise within Medical Capabilities and the broader Medical organization and provide leadership for strategy development and execution for the WW Field Medical Excellence to drive business objectives, resolve business issues, and optimize opportunities.

Role accountabilities include:
  • Provides strategic oversight on cross-TA department initiatives in partnership with the Head of WW Field Medical Excellence and the WW Medical Capabilities Leadership team.
  • Serve as a formalized project lead for complex projects in support of the WW Field Medical Excellence and in support of the overall Medical Capabilities Organization.
  • Facilitates effective leadership team meetings and interactions, (e.g., WW Field Medical Excellence, Town Hall Meetings, etc.). Oversees coordinator involvement supporting the cross-functional management of timing, content, invitations and attendance across WW Field Medical Excellence LT.
  • Responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering the updated WW Field Medical Excellence Team Vision and Values.
  • Identifies and drives continuous improvement opportunities across the WW Field Medical Excellence organization and provides operational excellence in supporting the Medical Capabilities teams.
  • Strong matrix partnership with colleagues within Medical Capabilities, and across Global Medical Major Markets, InterCon, Franchises, Country Medical Directors and with WW Customer Capabilities.
  • Facilitates team budget preparations and team monthly budget tracking to ensure accountability of deliverables and timelines associated with strategy and tactical planning, along with ensuring the teams are communicating potential barriers to successful execution.
  • Oversee the WW Field Medical Excellence Agency partners, to ensure deliverables meet BMS expectations and are within budget and timelines.
  • Partners with Global Procurement to establish and drive medical agency standards and ongoing governance, ensuring KPIs are tracked and monitored
  • Develop job descriptions aligned with roles and responsibilities within WW Field Medical Excellence Functions, by evaluating skills, current competencies and capabilities, and identifying outstanding areas of need
  • Collaborates cooperatively with Medical Capabilities to identify franchise and team efficiencies and implement best practices.
  • Support BMS projects including but not limited to platforms such as the MEDsights NextGen project.

  • BS in health-science related field with a minimum of 10 years' experience in the pharmaceutical or related healthcare industry. Advanced degree a plus.
  • Track record of success in leading complex projects. Demonstrated strong project management skills.
  • Subject matter competence in Medical Affairs and/or Field Medical
  • Experience interacting with WW colleagues/partners/thought leaders/Senior Management in a matrix partnership environment and understanding market distinctions.
  • Experience in establishing global and US medical, publication and brand plans.
  • Experience managing 3rd party vendors and influencing without authority.
  • In depth experience in agency budget management.
  • Ability to lead strategically, drive performance, build alignment, inform, negotiate and collaborate.
  • Experience with integration, change management, and demonstrated success in working cross- functionally in a matrix team.
  • Excellent organizational, written & oral communication, facilitation, interpersonal and non-traditional leadership skills (managing up).
  • Proven experience with effectively managing timelines, identifying resource needs and constraints, and implementing strategies to meet changing needs/requirements.
  • Ability to travel both domestically and internationally approximately 10-20% of time.
