Job Summary:

The Field Medical Alignment Associate Director supports the development and implementation of scientific and medical strategy as it relates to engagement with healthcare professionals and decisions makers across the healthcare continuum in the United States. As part of the US Field Medical Affairs Team, the Field Medical Alignment Associate Director partners with Liaison Field Directors and Medical Affairs Product Teams to ensure cross-functional alignment, innovation and continuous improvement of Field Medical Affairs execution (medical engagement of external stakeholders and accounts), planning, customer engagement processes, reporting and associated systems utilized by Medical Science and Health Outcome Liaisons in order to facilitate consistency and compliance in executing medical research aligned with our strategic objectives and scientific exchange.
The position includes strategic planning and project management for projects aimed at developing materials, tools or other programs to advance the effectiveness and cohesiveness of FMA including both programs targeted internally and externally towards external stakeholders. The position may serve as an FMA representative on cross-functional project teams and lead US region implementation around such initiatives

Responsibilities:

Operational Excellence:

  • Active member and participant on the US Field Medical Affairs Team
  • Works with FMA Leadership Team in developing and implementing the FMA department strategy in alignment with Medical Affairs strategies, by providing input/participating in Medical Affairs and FMA strategic planning processes.
  • Leads the development of the US Field Medical Alignment Plan for one or more assets to enable appropriate execution of the field section of the US Medical Affairs Plans
  • Represents US Field Medical Affairs at cross-functional meetings to ensure appropriate resource allocation, alignment, and planning
  • Scans the healthcare environment and analyzes emerging trends to identify skills and competencies to drive future organizational capabilities
  • Provides and leverages expert knowledge, innovative thinking and resources to assist in continuous process improvement and Field Medical optimization
  • Strategically informs US Field Medical Affairs Leadership Team of gaps and opportunities to enhance processes and systems for US Field Medical Affairs
  • Exhibits expert understanding of company and organizational policies and procedures

Strategic Planning and Project Management:

  • Ensures alignment and optimization of strategy and execution across all US Field Medical Affairs Teams
  • Oversees development, approval, cataloging and storage of US Field Medical Affairs resources
  • Supports US Field Medical Affairs in the coordination and execution of external partnerships and alliances
  • Ensures all bi-directional communications between Headquarters and Field are streamlined, simplified, and coordinated in adherence to all company policies and procedures
  • Responsible for the continuous development and improvement of cross-functional alignment and medical account planning for US Field Medical Affairs
  • Participates in resource planning, policy development, and implementation of US Field Medical Affairs goals and objectives
  • Responsible for capturing and instilling best practices across the Field Medical Affairs Tumor Teams
  • Leads the development of monthly and quarterly reporting to communicate the value and impact of US Field Medical Affairs to the organization

Qualifications: Successful candidates will be able to meet the qualifications below with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Education/Experience:

  • MD, PharmD, PhD in a health science related field required; MBA desirable
  • 5-7 years related experience, with a minimum of 2 years field medical or medical affairs experience in Oncology or Hematology preferred
  • A minimum of 4 years working in a clinical or pharmaceutical environment
  • Knowledge of the US Healthcare System and the pharmaceutical industry
  • Project/Program Management experience (pharma, academia, small business, etc.)
  • Experience working in a matrix environment with multiple leaders each with priority projects
  • Ability to travel
